As a Regulatory Pharmacy Technician, you will use your foundational knowledge that you have gained as a pharmacy technician to ensure compliance and regulatory accreditation requirements are met. You will be ensuring that we are meeting the most stringent requirements, demonstrating our commitment to excellence. Surveys by regulatory or accrediting agencies can happen at any time, and you will be able to adapt to support those activities. Your duties will include: 

  • Assisting department leadership. 

  • Acting as a liaison between the ambulatory care areas, the department of pharmaceutical services and applicable State and Federal regulatory agencies. 

  • Monitoring and evaluating the completion of monthly inspections conducted by the site manager. 

  • Traveling to ambulatory practice sites throughout Northeast Ohio.

  • Has prior experience as a pharmacy technician.  


This opportunity allows you to work from home one day a week after successful completion of the new hire period. This role also gives you the autonomy to develop an audit schedule, while also allowing flexibility for you to participate in committee and project work.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures legislative, regulatory, rule, accreditation and CC policy and procedural consistency with respect to medication use in the ambulatory patient care setting.
  • Monitors and evaluates the completion of monthly inspections conducted by the site manager.
  • Interacts with State, Federal and non-governmental regulatory agencies on various medication use issues.
  • Develops and modifies policies and procedures for approval by department leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program preferred.  

Certifications:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) verified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • Upon hire, registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required within 6 months. 

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • Three years of pharmacy technician experience in an inpatient hospital environment or equivalent environment. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, reaching, stretching, and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • While walking, stooping, bending and reaching; ability to transport 240 lb. cart.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
