Position Summary

The Staff Platform Engineer will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of platform engineering databases.  You will ensure integrity, stability, and high availability of the NoSQL and Caching database environments in your charge. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, on-prem and as-a-service cloud database implementations, observability/monitoring/alerting setup and admin, automation engineering, platform vibrancy and resiliency roadmap initiatives, database architecture and design, application support and advising, vulnerability management and remediation, compliance, security, database audit review, periodic access reviews, user access listings, process/database performance tuning, version upgrades, access methods and approvals, backup/recovery, vendor collaboration/ticketing, team mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

As part of the platform engineering team you will work with peer DB Engineers, operation DBAs, application owners, project teams, and vendors to support and maintain current implementations as well as implement new builds or initiatives per requirements. The Staff Platform Engineer will assist in assuring the database implementations are secure, compliant, and adhere to minimum security requirements as set by CVS Health.  You will use your knowledge, skill set, and experience to support application requirements and make recommendations for improving existing and future processes.  You will aid in reviewing new product enhancements, new or different features, updates for future usage patterns, and general engineering/planning.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of combined experience in database administration and engineering
• 5+ years of DBA experience working on Linux/Unix systems with command line and shell scripting knowledge
• 5+ years of DBA experience working with MongoDB, Cosmos DB, Marklogic, and/or Redis
• 3+ years experience working with cloud database environments on GCP, Azure, AWS in PaaS managed solutions
• Experience with or a willingness to learn automation technology (for example, Ansible and Terraform)
• Experience with or a willingness to learn deployments (CI/CD) with GHA, GitHub, Jenkins
• Experience with performance tuning and investigation, process/query analysis, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting
• Experience with monitoring/alerting, observability, dashboarding
• Advanced knowledge of process/query analysis
• Experience with maintenance routines, upgrades, and patching requirements
• Ability to work off-hours for application release support, Linux patching support, maintenance windows, upgrades, compliance, and oncall support

• Healthcare IT experience
• Advanced execution and delivery skills (planning, delivering, and supporting)

• Experience working in a complex and dynamic environment

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Highschool diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$106,605.00 - $213,210.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
