Typical Accountabilities

[ Market Access & Pricing Strategy ​]

  • Develop and execute Korea market access strategy including pricing, reimbursement, and HTA positioning for launch, lifecycle, and in-line products across all AstraZeneca business units (BBU, OBU, RDBU).
  • Lead pricing negotiations with HIRA and NHIS; secure timely, commercially optimal reimbursement listings and price agreements, including through innovative contracting mechanisms.
  • Anticipate and shape health policy trends: monitor legislative and regulatory developments at MOHW, HIRA, and NHIS; translate intelligence into pre-emptive business strategy and cross-functional action plans.
  • Champion evidence generation and value communication; develop compelling HEOR, RWE, and budget impact models to support HTA submissions and payer negotiations.
  • Manage in-line product pricing lifecycle, including routine revisions, confidential contracted pricing arrangements, and compliance with dual-price architecture requirements.
  • Build and sustain trusted relationships with key health authority officials, policy makers, industry associations (KRPIA, KPBMA, KoBia), and KOLs to advocate for patient-centric access policies.

[ Leadership & Organisational Impact ​]

  • Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team of ~13 direct and indirect reports across Market Access and HEOR; foster a high-performance, inclusive culture.
  • Serve as a member of the Country Leadership Team (CLT); contribute to enterprise-wide strategy, cross-functional governance, and annual business planning.
  • Champion AstraZeneca's ethics and compliance standards in all pricing and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Act as Korea's primary interface with Asia Area and global Market Access communities; represent local needs and insights in global strategy forums.

Essential Qualifications

[Education]

  • Degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, Life Sciences, or related field (Pharmacy strongly preferred)

[Work Experiences]

  • 15+ years in pharmaceutical Market Access or closely related functions in Korea
  • Demonstrated track record of securing pricing and reimbursement approvals for innovative medicines in Korea
  • Proven experience navigating Korea's payer landscape (MOHW, HIRA, NHIS)
  • Prior experience at a senior cross-functional or country leadership level

[Knowledge and Skills]

  • Deep expertise in Korea's pricing and reimbursement frameworks, including flexible and risk-sharing contracting mechanisms
  • Strategic and analytical mindset: ability to translate health policy shifts into actionable business strategy
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills in both Korean and English
  • Strong people leadership capabilities: team building, coaching, and performance management
  • Unwavering ethical standards and full commitment to AstraZeneca's Code of Ethics and compliance policies

[Advanced Education]

  • MPH, MSc, or PhD in Health Economics, Public Health, Pharmacy, or related field

[Technical Expertise]

  • Expertise in HEOR methodology: economic modelling, budget impact analysis, systematic review, or real-world evidence
  • Familiarity with international HTA frameworks and comparative pricing practices

[Network & Commercial Acumen]

  • Established network of payer contacts, health authority officials, and KOLs in Korea
  • Experience designing and executing managed entry agreements, risk-sharing contracts, or value-based pricing arrangements
