The Human Resources team is searching for ambitious personnel to join their everyday mission to discover, hire, and retain great talent. These personnel are the conduit for positive employee relations, performance management, and focal point for benefits/compensation. You would be instrumental in achieving Smithfield’s goal to become the #1 consumer packaged goods company in the world! Provides general human resource assistance to a business unit or corporate functional area which may include recruiting, selection and staffing, employment and personnel documentation, job evaluation, compensation, and/or benefits. This individual would also perform the duties of a Production Technical Trainer which represents the Smithfield HP current production policy and procedures through the certification program and training and development. This position supports production by communicating new standards and procedures by visiting farms and support departments. This position performs complex duties requiring independent judgment and coordination in one or more areas of a comprehensive human resource operation.
Create and lead recruiting initiatives to obtain talent for placement in exempt and non-exempt positions across Smithfield Hog Production.
Function as a partner with operational and business leaders to match potential and available active talent with current and future employment opportunities to ensure Smithfield Hog Production achieves its hiring requirements.
Maintain employee files including employee personnel files, benefit files and staffing and recruiting files. Maintain department files in accordance with the Company retention policy/guidelines.
Process HR paperwork including applications, new hire paperwork, pay changes, data changes, terminations, and other confidential employee information.
Maintains training records.
Implements the farm certification program by visiting farms and training/certifying employees.
Initiates collaborative training sessions to promote future HOD, Production Trainee and Farm Manager development.
Maintain compliance database and ensures required training and other activities occur on schedule.
Ensure compliance with required postings at all locations.
Work to maximize positive employee relations and minimize potential liabilities.
Assist in oversight of the corporate AAP to ensure compliance in all recruitment, promotions and transfer processes.
Assist with the employee relocation program to provide quality relocation services.
Assist in organizational training and development efforts.
Compile and maintain departmental reports.
Oversee International Program which includes recruiting, hiring, legal documentation, travel, relocation, housing and placement of new hires.
Develop training or skill transition programs such as internships or On-the-Job training programs where applicable that help foster development and employment of veterans, minorities, and females or others who can transition into roles to fill key skill gaps in the future.
Identify, document and standardize immigration recruitment processes to improve efficiency and mitigate risk for the company.
Assist with reviewing and analyzing the information and/or documentation of petitions/applications with appropriate U.S. government agencies.
Maintain accurate documentation to track recruitment efforts, applicant flow, interviews, hires and other selection and onboarding activities.
Open job requisitions in ATS and posts on hiring boards, evaluates candidates’ resumes based on job descriptions, schedules phone screens, conducts phone screens to evaluate candidates’ ability to meet company expectations, schedules interviews for Hiring Managers, makes job offers to candidates and follows through up to onboarding.
Partner with Hiring Managers and HR Manager on all job postings; builds relationships with Hiring Manager to determine hiring needs and to drive the hiring process.
Create and lead all recruitment and engagement initiatives to procure talent for placement in exempt and non-exempt positions.
Seek out new and creative ideas to proactively attract candidates including social and professional networking sites, outreach efforts, career fairs, website postings, special recruiting events and other advertisements as needed.
Engage current employees, including employee resource groups, in recruitment and employment branding events.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field and 2+ years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
Spanish fluency, preferred.

Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
