Job Summary

Deposit Accounting is a centralized function which supports our Property Management teams process end of lease accounting for our portfolio of single-family rental homes. The Deposit Accountant is responsible for the Yardi reconciliation of security deposits as the final step in the resident life cycle upon move-out.  This position works closely with the Property Management teams to properly capture monies due/owed to/from the resident and provides support for deposit accounting related questions.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide Genuine Care when assisting our Property Management staff with Deposit Accounting requests for information.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Resident lease, including the application process.
  • Perform a detailed audit of the resident ledger and related move out documentation prior to posting the final reconciliation of the resident security deposit to ensure timely and accurate completion of end of lease accounting.
  • Become a department expert on the legal statutes for the return of security deposits for the assigned markets.
  • Prepare and post correcting entries to the resident ledger as requested.
  • Prepare check requests and supporting documentation in a timely manner for resident refunds when appropriate.
  • Prepare and mail final Statement of Deposit Accounting resident communication in accordance with applicable State laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • BBA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience.

Skills/Specialized Knowledge

  • Real estate development, hospitality, and/or property management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and use of Yardi property management software preferred.
  • Knowledge and use of SharePoint software preferred.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as accounting software systems.
  • Ability to perform advanced mathematical and accounting functions.
  • Ability to follow and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to relate to others.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid work schedule (3 days minimum per week required in office)

Salary Range

$22.14 - $38.38
