Job Description:

Dimensional’s Compliance and Risk Department is responsible for navigating risk and managing regulatory environments around the globe, including helping the firm conduct business and tell its story while remaining compliant with industry laws and standards. We help oversee the process to identify, assess, and implement controls for key risks before they materialize. Team members work in consultation with other areas of the firm and are committed to quality and accuracy in all that they do. The team is empowered to identify underlying patterns that impact the firm and provide forward-looking solutions.

The Compliance and Risk Officer acts as a key contributor implementing the firm’s testing and monitoring capability, identifying and driving forward enhancements to controls and operational processes. The role performs direct testing and delivers reports and related recommendations to management. The role would also help carry out global testing programs (Rules 38a-1 and 206(4)-7) and coordinate third-party audits required by regulators and clients (AML reviews, other compliance audits). This position proactively works with colleagues in business units and corporate support functions globally to support the design of new controls, escalate testing results, and track related action items to enhance the overall control environment. The Compliance and Risk Officer also plays a pivotal role in executing both the short-term and long-term goals and objectives set by Compliance and Risk Management leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements the firm’s internal control and compliance testing function.
  • Provides meaningful, relevant, and well-supported testing results to key department stakeholders, looking beyond the obvious and finding solutions, not just problems.
  • Ability to work independently while exercising judgement in complex, risk-based assessments.
  • Coordinates third-party audit engagements required by regulatory and clients.
  • Manages processes for monitoring action items related to internal control issues or risk events.
  • Analyzes and provides credible challenges to the business’s assessment of the control environment.
  • Advises business control owners on best practices regarding control design and implementation.
  • Recommends enhancements to the firm’s policies and procedure based on testing results.
  • Advises senior management and influences control and process improvements.
  • Develops effective relationships within Compliance and Risk Management and with other business units to promote control awareness and act as an independent, trusted advisor to the business.
  • As the team expands, helps develop and coach staff, modelling high performance testing practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, with an advanced degree and/or certifications related to the audit or investment industry preferred (CPA, CIA, CFA).
  • Five years of experience supporting audit, testing, risk and/or compliance related activities, with background at a Big 4 or large national public auditing firm preferred.
  • Understanding of internal control testing principles, audit standards and reporting (SOC 1)
  • Familiarity with financial services industry rules and regulations (SEC and equivalents).
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp and communicate root causes of problems, as well the underlying concepts in complex subject matters.
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions, including the ability to think creatively and synthesize information to identify problems, trends, and opportunities.
  • Positive attitude and a natural willingness to support the team and cultivate strong relationships across the firm’s business functions.
  • Working knowledge of PowerApps and/or experience with GRC tools preferred.
