Job Purpose:

Our Lead Kitting Associate will be responsible for assisting the supervisor in daily operations and coordinate flow of work by carrying out standard activities and provides support to other Kitting employees.

Job Responsibilities:

● Organize and execute customer orders to ensure the timely completion of pick and ship orders, and kitting orders.
● Monitor work performance of Veritiv employees and temporary workers to ensure compliance with all federal, corporate and departmental safety regulations, policies and practices.
● Inspect merchandise, check for shortages and reject damaged goods on a daily basis.
● Participate in annual inventory.
● Practice and adhere to established safety rules and policies, as well as, established housekeeping standards.
● Performs equipment safety review.
● Reports any violations or hazards to management immediately.
● Understand and use warehouse locator systems.
● Prepare products for shipment to include packaging for safe shipping, labeling and marking.
● Communicate shortages of merchandise through proper channels to ensure accurate billing.
● Understand all applicable regulatory requirements and ensure Veritiv is compliant with all regulatory requirements (OSHA, FDA, etc.).

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:

● Must be available to work 2nd shift from 4:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

● Responsibilities will be inside a non-climate controlled warehouse where exposure to cold, heat, damp or humid conditions may occur.
● Will work around moving machinery such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
● Noise level in the work environment is typically loud.
● Exposure to dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, operating vehicles and shift work is required.

Work Experience:

● 0-1 years of related experience of successful supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.

● 3-5 years of related job experience.

● Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.

● Ability to work quickly and efficiently.

● Basic experience of simple office/operational systems.

● Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.

● Experienced in providing leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes, and challenges.

● Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.

● Professional safety, environmental, and DOT management experience.

● Professional safety, environmental, and DOT management experience. General knowledge of applicable safety, environmental. and DOT governmental regulations, specifically OSHA, EPA, and DOT and their applications if required.

● Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems.

● Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

● Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful).

● Strong planning and organization skills are required.

● Warehouse experience required preferably working in a distribution environment.

Education:

● High School Diploma/GED

Working Conditions:
The work environment for this position requires:
● Regularly working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse where exposure to cold, heat, damp or humid conditions may occur.
● Exposure to loud noise.
● Exposure to dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and moving vehicles.

Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements listed below are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 
● Ability to lift, twist and carry up 50 - 75 pounds, manipulate (push and pull) up to 160 pounds of product with material handling equipment and skids weighing up to 2,000 pounds utilizing pallet jack.
● Walking/Standing - walk throughout the warehouse to complete customer orders. Stand when operating order picker or reach truck equipment and when operating cutter.
● Sitting - sit only when driving sit-down material handling equipment.  
● Lifting - lift items weighing a few ounces up to 150 pounds with assistance .
● Stooping - performed when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations. May bend at the waist.
● Kneeling -  kneel when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations.
