About The Team

The Billing team at GEICO manages the tooling, infrastructure, data, and services necessary to support seamless billing experiences for internal users, end customers and partners. The billing platform serves as the backbone for managing financial transactions and customer interactions, driving efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction while supporting strategic growth and compliance.

What you will do

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer with a strong background in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale applications and distributed systems. You will join a team focused on managing GEICO's core billing platform, which encompasses APIs and data flows used throughout the entire GEICO ecosystem. In this role, you will play a crucial part in re-architecting our platform to replace third-party software with open-source solutions, enhancing the scalability and efficiency of our systems.

Responsibilities

  • Define the technical architecture for major components of the Billing Platform
  • Drive interoperability across platforms in Billing and facilitate integrations with product, accounting, sales, finance, and data teams at GEICO
  • Help drive sound technical decision-making within Billing and align technical roadmaps with other teams across GEICO
  • Develop strategies and best practices to reduce technical debt, increase system observability and reliability, and support both business continuity and technological transformation
  • Mentor and guide other senior engineers, fostering growth and alignment on technical initiatives

Who you are

Minimum Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional, hands-on software development experience, including technical leadership of projects across teams or product areas
  • Have solid experience in architecting and designing large-scale and complex systems that delivered critical impact to a business
  • Strong coding skills in Java, Kotlin, Golang, or equivalent languages for high-performance, production-quality code.
  • Experience working with technologies such as SQL databases, NoSQL databases, Kafka, Spark, Airflow or equivalent.
  • Experience with cloud computing tools throughout the software development lifecycle, with expertise in DevOps, observability, telemetry, and test automation.
  • Are skilled in working across engineering teams and other functions in building alignment, driving decision making, and communicating transparently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the financial technology space, particularly in billing, subscription management, or financial reporting.
  • Experience in building and implementing workflow engines

Education

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience

Annual Salary

$130,000.00 - $260,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
