£27,000 - £32,000 plus benefits

Reports to: Senior Communications and Marketing Manager (CRH)

Directorate: Research and Innovation

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time 35 hours per week

Location: Stratford, London Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

We are looking for an engaging and diligent “Communication and Marketing Executive” to join Cancer Research Horizons, the innovation arm of Cancer Research UK.

At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer.

As the world’s biggest medical research charity, we have helped bring 11 new cancer drugs to market. However, there is still an urgent need to bring more effective treatments to patients faster.

Cancer Research Horizons (CRH) is the innovation engine of Cancer Research UK. We bring together world-leading minds, bold ideas and the right partners to bridge the gap between academic research and taking drugs to market.

To date, we've played an instrumental role in forming over 70 spin-out companies. We've helped bring 11 cancer drugs to market, and have enabled in excess of 6 million courses of treatment for cancer patients across the world.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about our mission and the work that we do. You are a great communicator, proactive and have experience in using digital communications channels. In return we can offer you the chance to deepen your skills in content creation, promotion and managing a  of channels (website, newsletters, social media, conferences). This role will also give you exposure to a vast range of disciplines within the business side of life sciences and an opportunity to engage with our key audiences: entrepreneurial researchers, business professionals and the finance/investor community. You’ll also be surrounded by people as dedicated to beating cancer as you.

What will I be doing

  • Supporting the team in crafting and delivering communication and marketing activities to engage with and influence our target audiences: entrepreneurial researchers, business professionals and the finance/investor community.

  • Supporting the creation of high-quality, accurate, engaging content (including copywriting, copyediting, proofreading, etc.) and visual assets, in line with CRH’s brand and tone of voice.

  • Supporting the promotion of content across CRH-owned, paid and third-party channels including: website, social media, newsletters, print, direct mail, events, advertising, etc.

  • Managing communications channels with a specific attention to our newsletters, social media channels and website.

  • Providing support to the team with administrative and operational tasks, including but not limited to: planning activities, producing reports, raising purchase orders, liaising with suppliers, managing inventories, connecting with internal and external stakeholders, arranging meetings, supporting the organisation of events, etc.

What are we looking for?

  • Strong communication skills (written and visual) and able to communicate in an engaging way. Experience in short form content creation/promotion would be advantageous but not essential.

  • Excellent management, organisation and planning skills, with strong sense of accountability.

  • Experience in using digital channels and running campaigns (doesn’t need to be professional) – with an interest in B2B social media.

  • Analytical with experience producing reports and dashboards Demonstrates initiative and attention to detail; self-motivated and solutions focused.

  • A passion for Cancer Research UK cause and work and an interest in the biotech/pharma industry sector.
