Job Description

Braun Intertec Corporation is seeking an Environmental Staff Scientist/Geoscientist to join our North Texas Remediation Division in our Allen, Texas office. The preferred candidate should have between 0-3 years of professional work experience and hold at least a bachelor’s degree in geoscience, environmental science, or related field. The successful candidate will contribute to the firm’s success by:

  • Conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) which will include interviewing property owners, conducting Site assessments, and reviewing/summarizing pertinent regulatory documents.
  • Assisting with report writing and data tabulation including Phase I and II ESAs, Affected Property Assessment Reports (APARs), and other technical documents for submittal to clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct field work such as installing groundwater monitoring wells, collecting soil, groundwater, and air samples, and other field activities.
  • Oversight of subcontractors in the field including drillers and remediation contractors.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with other members of the firm, vendors, and assist clients with developing creative solutions for environmental problems.
  • Building relationships with coworkers, clients, vendors, and partners.
  • Travel to local and regional project sites (up to 20% travel, based on project needs).

Required Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills—a willing and open communicator.
  • Detail-oriented, motivated, analytical thinker with a driven work ethic.
  • Curiosity to learn about a wide variety of environmental consulting topics.
  • Works well on a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Accepts mentoring from senior staff and managers and has an interest in mentoring more junior staff.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving history.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Driven, analytical thinker, enjoys technical report writing, and is detail oriented.
  • Enjoys conducting field work such as soil and groundwater sampling.
  • Good mechanical skills and be able to use various sampling equipment.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Excel and Word).

Qualifications:

  • BS degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or science-related field.
  • Experience installing soil borings, monitoring wells, and providing oversight of subcontractors.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, data tables, and figures.
  • Basic understanding of the TCEQ Texas Risk Reduction Program.
  • Good basic mechanical skills to use and troubleshoot environmental sampling equipment.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to expand their skills and certifications through company provided training and mentoring.
