The Resource Nurse assists with critical/high risk patient care needs. They are available for immediate, short-term assistance. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in their area.

Pay Range:  $34.00 - $49.18/hour

Employment Type:  Full Time, 72 hours every 2 weeks

Schedule:  First choice of open evening and night shifts, primary shifts would be as Rapid Response with an alternate in Emergency Department

Requirements:  Graduate of accredited Registered Nursing Program required, Current Michigan RN License required, Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, and ENPC required, minimum of 2 years of critical care experience required

STANDARDS OF CARE

  • Promotes patient safety by maintaining the standards of nursing care and implementing the policies and procedures of the hospital and nursing department, including maintaining the patients bill of rights.
  • Achieves job specific initial and ongoing competencies.

ASSESSMENT/PRIORITIZATION

  • Provides timely, consistent communication in response to request for help, assessing and prioritizing all requests appropriately.

PLANNING

  • Completes consistent, reliable documentation of patient care that accurately reflects patient condition and compliance with standards of care.

IMPLEMENTATION

  • Provides short-term care to acutely ill patients throughout the hospital, as well as those being transferred to another facility by performing direct patient care during the initial critical phase (defined as patient acuity or RN workload).
  • Responds to trauma alert and Code Blue in a timely manner.

PATIENT CARE-EDUCATION/EVALUATION

  • Evaluates patients and significant others educational needs.
  • Performs 1:1 staff teaching/mentoring as needed.
  • Makes appropriate referrals based on assessed needs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to evaluate and document the patients' response to care given.
  • Identifies potential staff performance issues and quality issues and recommends practice/policy changes as needed. #EDRN123
