Financial Crime Operations (FCO) is a team of 2000 Operations Professionals, part of the Financial Crime Services (FCS) team in Chief Operations Office (COO). The team is accountable for the development, implementation, and ongoing leadership of the Group’s financial crime operations shared service. Financial Crime Operations leads the Group’s approach to managing Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) and Sanctions risks and obligations through the provision of the following operational services AML, CTF, KYC, Sanctions, ECDD etc.
You will be part of the Financial Crime Operations team with focus on ensuring strong operational cadences with a strong quality and compliance focus on outcomes with efficiency in the way that we disrupt financial crime.
Financial Crime Operations footprint spans Australia, India and New Zealand.
DO WORK THAT MATTERS
The role of Senior Analyst will require you to provide a high standard of quality and output of services to support the Group managing its financial crime obligations with respect to the identification of customers with potential sanctions and/or AML risk. In this role you will support the Group by driving daily business outcomes in a highly regulated and fast paced environment, this will include:-
• Understand and carry out tasks using techniques documented in the Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs).
• Provide the required assessment and investigation of events in accordance with agreed Service level Agreements (SLAs) as per Customer Value Proposition (CVP).
• Prompt escalation of issues/risks identified within specified SLAs.
• Proactively identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) by using productivity tools to drive increased quality, process simplification or increased efficiency.
• Understand the AML/CTF & Sanctions all legal and regulatory requirements, landscape and internal compliance policies relating to your role and apply to the business.
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of end-to-end business processes that is relevant to own area of expertise. • Undertake additional tasks as directed by your Manager.
• Maintain an up-to-date focus on financial crime, security related trends and emerging issues, and share knowledge obtained.
• Review all cases submitted by the analysts ensuring at all times ensuring due diligence is applied to satisfy Group Standards.
• Responsible for capturing and documenting all findings and decision making within the Groups Case Management Systems and escalation reports.
• Apply a customer centric approach when interacting with customers to facilitate customer or bank request, and actively working towards resolving customer enquiries and/or complaints in a prompt, professional and caring manner.
• Adhere to the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct sets the standards of behavior, actions and decisions we expect from our people.
Experience:
Gives examples of how analytical thinking has been used to resolve problems. Names specific tools or techniques that can be used to support the analytical thinking process. Describes specific software applications or products used for business analytics. Helps others research and learn more about business analytics tools and applications
Participates in and supports activities for the anti-money laundering team. Applies recommended methodology to conduct money laundering investigations. Implements basic anti-money laundering tools and techniques. Performs due diligence to verify customer identities when suspicious activities have been detected. Assists in implementing the Bank Secrecy Act within the organisation.
Processes various bank checks accurately and promptly in accordance with organisational policies. Implements check processing quality audits to ensure that organisational standards are being met. Operates and consistently maintains an automatic check processing system. Documents and analyses errors and liability risks in bank check processing services. Monitors bounced and fraudulent checks and notifies the proper authorities.
Identifies the root cause of a problem, using fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools. Works collaboratively to analyse risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtains decisions on resolution. Resolves moderately complex problems within own sphere of influence or accountability
Identifies key features and functions of standard operating procedures. Explains usage of standard operating procedures in business operations. Describes main issues and considerations when using standard operating procedures. Compiles current research relevant to standard operating procedures.
Creates action plans that ensure the accomplishment of responsibilities. Breaks tasks into manageable steps that can be incorporated into a personal work plan. Raises awareness of potential bottlenecks and disruptions to the schedule. Monitors progress continuously and adjusts tactics for handling situations on a case by case basis. Escalates concerns over competing or conflicting priorities
