Position Summary

Assists program directors in the management and direction of ophthalmology fellowship and/or resident training program ensuring program compliance with regulatory agency standards by maintaining essential documentation for programs. Coordinates educational activities for incoming and current ophthalmology residents, ophthalmology sub-specialty fellows, and medical students, and functions as a liaison between medical students, residents, fellows, departments, attending physicians, administration and outside institutions. Coordinates weekly departmental Grand Rounds.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Compiles applications of residency/fellowship program candidates for faculty reviews. Schedules and coordinates yearly interview activities for selection of new residents/fellows, maintains files of completed applications and related materials, corresponds with candidates and those who are accepted into the program.  
  • Coordinates residents/fellows schedules, rotations, vacations, conference schedules, and documents conference attendance and absences.
  • Maintains residents/fellows records in ACGME, AUPO, and New Innovations.
  • Arranges for phone or pagers, white coats, lockers for residents/fellows orientation.
  • Reviews ACGME/AUPO requirements for the program(s) and evaluates program(s) to assess and ensure continued compliance.
  • Compiles faculty, resident, fellows evaluations.   
  • Maintains trainee records and documentation and collects data fulfilling requirements of ACGME/AUPO and other licensing and credentialing boards.
  • Coordinates schedules and logistics for WashU medical students rotating with ophthalmology.
  • Maintains CME compliance for the weekly departmental Grand Rounds.
  • Coordinates the local speakers and visiting professors, schedules, and logistics for weekly Grand Rounds.
  • Prepares graduates completion certificates, award certificates, assists with logistics and planning of the annual graduation/award ceremony
  • Makes purchases related to the residency/fellowship programs including catering.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fellowship, Residency, Graduate Medical Education experience.
  • Education/Academic experience.
  • Experience with ACGME, GME, New Innovations, SFMatch, ERAS.
  • Experience with InDesign.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Great communication skills.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience totaling four years.

G09-H

Salary Range

$23.37 - $36.19 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
