About the role.... 

The Inari Farm Operations Manager will play a key role in coordinating activities and facilitating communication across teams and projects at Inari’s Wolcott Farm. The candidate must enjoy a rapid paced atmosphere and be flexible, show initiative, and good judgment to achieve established goals and deliverables. This role will work out of Inari’s research station in Wolcott, IN and report to the Sr. Manager, Product Development Field Operation. 

As Farm Operations Manager, you will… 

  • Be the onsite point person for all project owners, visitors, contractors, etc. 
  • Effectively communicate across teams/projects and drive alignment and/or prioritization between teams for work and projects to be conducted.  
  • Lead the planning process for all projects and work to be conducted at the Farm. 
  • Procurement and organization of all supplies needed at the farm (packaging, planting, pollination, harvest, and general supplies)  
  • Contract execution and grower/landowner relations 
  • Manage temporary workers- Number of crew, time, supplies, contract execution 
  • Work in coordination with the Inari Farm Field Manager on the placement and physical execution of all Inari trials, nurseries, & increases at the Wolcott Farm and Seed Design Innovation Center 
  • Work in coordination with the Inari Farm Field Manager on the planning and coordination of in season application with Inari Farm team, stakeholders, and third parties as needed. 
  • Focal point for all equipment at the farm, including procurement, maintenance, and use planning. 
  • Provide Prism database support as needed 
  • Accountable for all documentation related to regulatory at the farm, which includes Chain of Custody documentation, monitoring, planting, clean out logs, etc.  
  • Site contact for inspections and audits 
  • Ensure fumigation, incineration, and disposal of all seed approved for discard at Wolcott farm facility 
  • Serve as the safety focal point and implementation lead of all safety efforts at the farm 
  • WPS focal point and trainer 
  • Ensure facility is maintained—submit tickets as needed, complete repairs as needed 
  • Procure and maintain an adequate inventory of all supplies needed 
  • All other requests for the farm as needed 

 

You Bring… 

  • B.S. degree in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, or related discipline and at least 5 years of experience working in small plot field testing, breeding nurseries, or field research trials.  
  • A collaborative mindset that is open to giving and receiving ideas, perspectives, and feedback. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of individuals and audiences. 
  • Experience in field testing operations related to planning and execution. 
  • Ability to work both independently and deliver on responsibilities within a highly collaborative environment. 
  • Experience managing people and leading teams.  
  • Ability to host tour groups and provide field tours of the station and field. 
  • Experience with PRISM software is desirable  
  • A strong sense of purpose and drive to develop unique, high impact solutions.
