As the Director of Tax Reporting and Operations, you will play a pivotal role in driving tax compliance, operational efficiency, and financial success at SharkNinja. This is a high visibility and foundational leadership role for a growing tax team. Reporting to the Head of Tax, you will have the exciting opportunity to oversee and lead the entire quarterly and annual tax provisions under ASC 740 (Federal, State, and International), as well as responsibility for global tax compliance. You will support our finance partners with strategic planning by owning the process for forecasted tax impact. You will also design and own the process for capturing and utilizing tax data.   

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Serve as SharkNinja’s subject matter expert on ASC 740, owning all aspects of the Company’s global provision for taxes, including the worldwide effective tax rate, deferred taxes, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, FAS 5 accruals, tax account reconciliations, and tax disclosures. 
  • Own tax data and operations, including the processes to collect upstream information, the calculations to transform the data into tax data, and determine the most effective way to store and utilize structured and unstructured data. 
  • Own all aspects of SOX control documentation and processes for tax, coordinating with outside service providers and external auditors and identifying areas for improvement. 
  • Oversee global compliance including management of the global tax calendar and working with advisors to complete timely and accurate tax returns and informational disclosures across our footprint. 
  • Evaluate opportunities to reduce manual work and select software and automation tools to manage our workload. Design, develop, execute, and maintain tax technology solutions to optimize tax operations and enhance our ability to analyze tax data.  
  • Guide the development of other team members. 

 

Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field required. 
  • MSA, MST, or CPA preferred. 
  • 12+ years of corporate tax experience; combination of public accounting and/industry experience, preferably working with multinational public companies. 
  • 10+ years of recent tax accounting and global tax compliance experience.  
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in accounting for income taxes including significant, recent experience applying ASC 740 in a complex, multinational, public company environment. 
  • Experience with evaluating and implementing tax technology tools. 
  • Experience with Oracle a plus. 
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills. 
  • Positive attitude, good work ethic, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
