Registered Nurse (RN) – Ambulatory Surgical Services

The Surgery Center at Akron General Bath Health & Wellness Center provides patients with outpatient surgical options close to home. Our highly skilled surgeons use advanced minimally invasive surgeries to provide the best surgical options for patients. Procedures offered include general surgery, ENT, endoscopy, foot and ankle, gynecology, hand and wrist, hip and knee joint replacements, shoulder, spine, sports medicine and urology. 


A caregiver in this position works 7:00AM – 3:30PM.  


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide quality nursing care.  

  • Complete preoperative assessments.  

  • Assess, develop and document plans for appropriate patient/family educational needs.  

  • Provide interoperative patient/family education.  

  • Develop plans of care and set goals.  

  • Demonstrate satisfactory performance for established and new routines, procedures and skills.  

  • Assign/delegate appropriate patient care activities to other nursing caregivers.  

  • Function as a circulating or scrub nurse according to unit standards.  

  • Assist in other clinical areas if needed.  

  • Use computerized charting.  

  • Complete mandatory education and training to maintain competencies, requirements, certification and licensure.  


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.  

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio. 

  • Two years of perioperative OR nursing experience. 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).  


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
