Biomedical Imaging Specialist

Biomedical Imaging Specialist performs preventative maintenance and repairs on multiple advanced diagnostic and therapeutic imaging modalities. These modalities include Nuclear Medicine, MRI, CT, and Rad/Fluro in addition to low end diagnostic imaging equipment. Has extensive familiarity with the functional and operational procedures of these systems. Has the ability to work with equipment from various manufacturers. Familiar with State and Federal regulatory requirements on the safe operation of this equipment. Has the ability to lead a group of Imaging Engineers as required. Provides total system-level troubleshooting, installation, preventative maintenance, and service repair of
necessary Imaging systems. Logically troubleshoots and documents imaging systems, using the most effective process and minimal resources
to return the imaging system to its appropriate diagnostic state.


Performs 100% of repairs and 100% calibrations on equipment, while coordinating with OEM, responsible for maintaining assigned equipment at 96% plus clinical availability. Provides highly specialized technical support for major diagnostic and therapeutic systems, such as: Diagnostic Imaging, TCP/IP protocol network support of the patient monitoring systems, etc. Functions as a liaison between the medical staff, department staff, and vendor(s) to maximize the safe and reliable performance of equipment. Maintains and repairs equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications; maintains equipment modifications as per manufacturer. Uses manufacturer provided diagnostic or operational software to isolate and repairproblems of component level whenever possible. Trains/Mentors medical and/or department staff in the performance and service of complex imaging equipment. Performs preventative maintenance on assigned high end equipment, such as (CT, MRI, Cath Labs).

This is a Day Shift Position 8-4, Monday to Friday.

On-site presence; therefore, should live within a commutable distance.  No relocation assistance available.

2 Roles Available

Required Criteria  

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Vendor Level Certification
  • 6 to 8 years of experience working on the repair of medical electronic and mechanical equipment
  • 24 months of current technical experience (modality specific)
  • Strong technical background in one or more of the Medical Imaging disciplines
  • Develops and maintain secondary modalities expertise for backup purposes 
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills to effectively collaborate, build relationships and manage change
