The team drives technology and digital transformation, partners with business leaders to design and execute new strategies through IT and operations services and ensures the necessary IT risk management and security measures are in place and aligned with enterprise architecture standards and principles. 

About The Role

The Senior Digital Workplace Engineer – Virtual Desktop Delivery will be responsible for the virtual desktop environment, including 1) ongoing operations of the existing environment and 2) the strategic design, implementation, and optimization of our target state, multi-cloud environment. This role is crucial for ensuring a secure, scalable, and high-performance virtual desktop and application experience for our global workforce, leveraging a hybrid solution that includes Citrix DaaS/Virtual Apps and Desktops, Microsoft Windows 365, and Amazon WorkSpaces. 

Responsibilities

Architecture & Design Responsibilities 

  • Lead the design and architecture of our next-generation VDI/DaaS platform, integrating Citrix DaaS (or Virtual Apps and Desktops), Windows 365, and Amazon WorkSpaces into a cohesive and performant hybrid solution. 
  • Develop technical roadmaps for the EUC environment, including migration strategies, lifecycle management, and adoption of new technologies (e.g., containerization, secure browser isolation). 
  • Ensure the VDI/DaaS architecture adheres to security best practices (Zero Trust, least privilege, data encryption) and organizational compliance standards. 
  • Conduct capacity planning, demand forecasting, and performance modeling to ensure the environment is correctly scaled, optimized for cost, and highly available. 
  • Design and implement robust Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC) plans for all virtual desktop infrastructure. 


Engineering & Operations Responsibilities 

  • Implement, configure, and maintain core components of Citrix (Cloud Connectors, StoreFront, WEM, Director, NetScaler/Gateway), Windows 365 (Cloud PCs, Intune integration, provisioning policies), and Amazon WorkSpaces. 
  • Develop automation and orchestration scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Terraform, Python) for provisioning, monitoring, image management, and system tuning. 
  • Manage and optimize desktop images (Golden Images) and application layering technologies (e.g., FSLogix, Citrix App Layering) to ensure a fast, consistent, and resilient user experience. 
  • Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex technical issues related to VDI/DaaS, including logon latency, network performance (HDX, PCoIP), security, and application delivery problems. 
  • Collaborate with Network, Cloud Infrastructure (Azure/AWS), and Security teams to integrate VDI/DaaS solutions seamlessly.

Skills and Qualifications

Technical Expertise 

  • 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years specializing in the design and engineering of large-scale Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)/Desktop as a Service (DaaS) environments. 
  • Deep Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in Citrix DaaS/Virtual Apps and Desktops including WEM, PVS/MCS, and NetScaler/Gateway. 
  • Proven hands-on experience designing and managing Microsoft Windows 365 (Cloud PCs) and integration with Microsoft Intune, Azure AD, and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
  • Strong experience with Amazon WorkSpaces deployment, management, and optimization within the AWS ecosystem. 
  • Expertise in Windows Server and Windows 10/11 operating systems, GPOs, Active Directory/Azure AD, and identity management. 
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell is essential). 
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts related to VDI (latency, bandwidth, load balancing, firewalls, and protocols like RDP, HDX, PCoIP). 


Education & Certifications (Preferred) 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 
  • Relevant professional certifications are highly desirable: 
  • Citrix Certified Expert - Virtualization (CCE-V) or Citrix Certified Professional - Virtualization (CCP-V) 
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty or Windows 365 Specialty 
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator 


Behavioral Competencies 

  • Strong ability to mentor and train junior engineers and document complex architectures for operational handover. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to 1) partner with a diverse stakeholder base to understand needs and develop technology requirements that deliver on them, and 2) articulate complex technical concepts to both technical teams and executive leadership. 
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-vendor issues under pressure. 

Compensation

The actual compensation offered will ultimately be dependent on multiple factors, which may include the candidate’s geographic location, skills, experience and other qualifications.

In addition, the position is eligible for a discretionary bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.

Work Location

This position is based in Corebridge Financial’s Houston, TX office and is subject to our hybrid working policy, which gives colleagues the benefits of working both in an office and remotely.
