Typical Accountabilities: • Oversees the Business Strategy and Portfolio function for area of responsibility, ensuring all functions and departments supported have the resources they need to develop strategies effectively • Uses expertise and knowledge of global issues to develop strategic Business Strategy and Portfolio objectives for inclusion into AstraZeneca’s annual business objectives • Provides expert advice in the area of specialism, influencing the development of strategies in the most complex and challenging functions • Maintains a high degree of understanding and awareness on new strategic and portfolio management trends and developments • Contributes to or manages the development of the senior management team in area of expertise Typical People Management Responsibility (direct / indirect reports): • Approximate number of people managed in total (all levels) - 30-50 • Grandfather (manager of a manager) What is the global remit? (how many countries will the role operate in?): • 2 or 3 countries at a minimum of 40% of time Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience: • Essential: Masters degree or equivalent qualification in relevant scientific discipline; Extensive experience in strategy development and portfolio management within a pharmaceutical or clinical environment; Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders within AstraZeneca • Desirable: PhD in scientific discipline; Expert reputation within the business and industry; Extensive knowledge of the latest technical and regulatory expectations Key Relationship to reach solutions: • Internal (to AZ or team): Regional and Global Senior Management Project, Change, Business Improvement and Strategy Management; Pharmaceutical Development; Compliance Team; Global and regional Business Strategy and Portfolio sites; Global Quality; Supply Chain • External (to AZ): External professional and regulatory organizations

Compensation Pay Range:

182,645.60 - 273,968.40 USD Annual

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position is outlined above. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
