Nurse Medical Mgmt I CA

Job Description:

The CA Nurse Medical Mgmt I is responsible for reviewing and analyzing institutional and professional claims and supporting medical documents to determine medical necessity of billed services and benefits payable according to established guidelines.
Ensures medically appropriate, high quality, cost effective care through assessing the medical necessity of inpatient admissions, outpatient services, focused surgical and diagnostic procedures, out of network services, and appropriateness of treatment setting by utilizing the applicable medical policy and industry standards accurately interpreting benefits and managed care products.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: 
 

• Conducts post service review for appropriateness of treatment setting reviews to ensure compliance with applicable criteria, medical policy, and member eligibility, benefits, and contracts.
• Working with medical directors in interpreting appropriateness of care and accurate claims payment.
• May also manage appeals for services denied.
• Reviews, analyzes and renders determinations on requests from the providers and beneficiaries for reconsideration of previously rendered medical decisions relating to claims issues. 
   

Requirements:

• Current active unrestricted CA RN license to practice as a health professional within the scope of practice in applicable state(s) or territory of the United States,  minimum of 2 years acute care clinical experience and computer and digital skills are required.
• Must reside in CA.
• Requires that all work must be physically done in California.
• Able to work with computer applications preferred.
• Health insurance billing and/or medical coding and/or Utilization Management experience preferred.

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $35.35 - $44.18.
