The student becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units. 

Organization & Team Overview 

Content Data Services (CDS) is the Video Metadata platform that powers X1, Flex, Peacock, and the future of Sky. Our goal is to build a global, unified platform for describing a modern video experience. 

The Site Reliability Engineer Intern will be part of CDS cloud infrastructure team who will work closely with development, network and security team to deliver reliable, performant, and scalable software products. 

 

Role Description 

You’ll be working with the best and brightest minds in Comcast while building systems & metrics that are reusable. SRE intern will assist in all aspects of the deployment and automation process, including research, implementation, testing and documentation. This role provides a hands-on experience in managing large-scale systems and preparing you for a career in Site Reliability Engineering by exposing you to real-world challenges and solutions. 

 

What are some interesting problems the student will work on?  

In your role you can expect to work on a variety of interesting problems that revolve around ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of software systems. You will be contributing to the creation and maintenance of infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes to manage and deploy infrastructure.

As a fresh perspective in the SRE team, you can bring in new ideas and technologies. Implementing robust monitoring and logging solutions enhances the visibility into the performance and health of applications and infrastructure. Your efforts in improving software delivery, reliability, security, and efficiency contribute to a better overall customer experience. 

  

Job Responsibilities 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Assisting in managing cloud infrastructure (AWS) and on-premises data centers. 

  • Provisioning and configuring new services and systems as needed. 

  • Analyzing system usage trends and planning for capacity upgrades. 

  • Identifying performance bottlenecks and working with teams to optimize system performance. 

  • Monitoring the performance and availability of systems and services. 

  • Responding to alerts and incidents promptly to ensure system reliability and uptime. 

  • Documenting operational procedures, configurations, and best practices. 

  • Following security best practices and assisting in security incident response efforts. 

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Good understanding of operating systems (Linux/Unix), networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S), and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud). 

  • Strong coding skills are essential, particularly in languages commonly used for automation and infrastructure management such as Python, Go, or Java. 

  • Knowledge of tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform for automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration management tasks is highly desirable. 

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Nagios, Datadog) and logging frameworks (ELK stack, Splunk) helps in understanding system performance, troubleshooting, and incident response. 

  • Preferred Majors: Computer Science or equivalent  

 

Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements 

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a United States-based college or university  

  • Rising Junior or Rising Senior only (must have a graduation date between Winter 2025- Spring 2027)  

  • Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship (meaning, student must be returning to school for Fall 2025 semester before graduating) 

  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program- June 2 through August 15, 2025 

  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs 

  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

Compensation

Base Pay: $32.00
