ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Business Operations role will be responsible for supporting and driving sound business planning, operations, and sourcing activities.  Candidate should demonstrate robust collaboration & project management acumen to advance the business processes within the Ignite, Scientific Service and Operations (SSO) group. 

Reports to the Sr. Director, Scientific Planning and Operations to partner with Ignite SSO group colleagues and other key stakeholders to perform project management, and business sourcing, operations, and planning activities.  This person will work proactively to coordinate and prioritize multiple key operational tasks according to timelines and standards.  Maintaining a fundamental knowledge of the Ignite model and studies, the role will provide operational support from the scoping to study close-out phase as well as overall infrastructure upkeep.

Role Responsibilities:

  • With guidance from Pfizer Ignite Business Operations and Sourcing Lead:

  • Responsible and main point of contact, for legal, project team and business partners, for RFP responses and proposal development, cost estimates, resource estimates and projections, and contract development, including; draft and negotiate work orders and change orders for pre-clinical and clinical trials within Pfizer’s Ignite model.

  • Liaise with key stakeholders to review project information/specifications and propose next steps and turnaround timelines for budget/proposal/contract.

  • Innovate solutions to issues that arise during exploration and negotiation.

  • Monitor project scope and spend against budgets, liaising with Ignite Operational Lead to determine if/when a Change Order is needed.

  • Collaborate with Ignite Finance lead and internal stakeholders to refresh project forecast estimates and track against actuals.

  • Maintain Ignite Portfolio Tracker to document all pricing/proposal/contracting requests and latest status’.

  • Lead operational planning and systems development with key stakeholders to ensure Ignite project work is conducted in compliance with local laws and regulations, including data and privacy requirements.

  • Lead business operations projects across SSO to align processes and ensure operational effectiveness, maintain quality standards, and enabling productivity.

  • Assist in the coordination of special projects (implementation and execution) within Ignite, Business Innovation, and in other groups, as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • 7 years’ experience with BA/BS or 6 years’ experience with MA/MBA/MS

  • Global CRO experience, with strong knowledge of clinical trial operations and related resources, and experience working with client partners based in China

  • Excellent interpersonal and effective written and verbal communication skills to support working with globally located teams and client partners

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel and organizational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, TEAMS, SharePoint).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently but also as part of a larger team with limited support from supervisor.

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple competing priorities, while maintaining high quality deliverables with fast turn-around.

  • Ability to quickly learn existing practices, and to learn from previous deals and apply lessons learned, continuous improvement mindset.

  • Ability to work across the organization to gather information and to synthesize multiple sources of data and information.

  • Experience using varying degrees of assumptions and inputs ranging from high level strategy to detailed protocol and feasibility plans to develop RFP responses/proposals strongly preferred.

  • Proven leadership skills and ability to drive change and influence at a senior level.

  • Attention to detail evident in a disciplined approach to document review, adherence to SOPs, metrics, etc.

  • Good problem solving & decision-making skills: Ability to work in ambiguous situations within the team to identify and resolve complex problems - at times without guidance, and at times seeking input from and influencing key stakeholders; Make sound decisions within the scope of responsibility; Focus on resolving problems.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional travel for group meetings

  •  Flexibility to work off-hours in a global environment (when needed)
