SUMMARY:

At RRH, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) in Radiology are the "wheels on the ground," playing a vital role in uplifting humanity through care for our community. Within our busy Radiology department, PCTs are responsible for the safe and timely transport of patients between units and the Radiology department.

STATUS: Per Diem             

LOCATION: Newark Wayne Community Hospital

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Clinical Patient Care & Service:

 

Patient Observation:

  • Observing patients during transport, noting any changes, and promptly reporting concerns to medical staff for further assessment.

 

Basic Care Assistance:

  • Assisting with basic patient care during transport, including repositioning patients, and ensuring overall comfort.

 

Infection Control:

  • Strictly adhering to infection control protocols by properly cleaning and disinfecting transport equipment and wearing the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).

 

Non-Clinical Patient Care and Service:

 

Transportation & Patient Care

  • Transport patients via chair mobile, ambulance bed, stretcher, and wheelchair to designated locations.
  • Inspect transport vehicles for safety before use and clean them as assigned.
  • Ensure patients are properly clothed, covered, and comfortable during transport.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Support modalities with room turnover and stocking supplies within department.
  • Making patient phone calls for labs or screening and reminder calls.
  • For advanced modality training in MRI & CT, safely assist technologist with daily operations within the suite

Documentation:

  • Maintaining accurate records of patient transport activities, including details of time, location, and any specific patient needs or considerations.

 

Patient Communication:

  • Effectively communicating with patients, explaining transport procedures, and addressing any concerns or questions to ease patient anxiety and ensure understanding.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
