The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, packaging, and staging outbound shipments to ensure products are delivered accurately, safely, and on time. This role involves creating shipping documentation, operating packaging tools and equipment—including a commercial cardboard cutter—and coordinating with carriers and internal departments. Attention to safety, detail, and accuracy is essential to protecting finished goods and maintaining efficient warehouse operations.

  • Prepare and package finished goods for shipment according to customer and company specifications.
  • Operate packaging equipment and tools including shrink wrap machines, banders, and cardboard cutters safely and effectively.
  • Verify shipment contents against shipping orders, bills of lading, or ERP records to ensure accuracy.
  • Create and apply shipping labels, documentation, and markings per carrier and customer requirements.
  • Inspect packaging materials for proper fit, stability, and damage prevention.
  • Load and secure shipments onto trucks or pallets using proper strapping and protective materials.
  • Coordinate with carriers and logistics staff to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
  • Record shipping data such as weights, dimensions, tracking numbers, and departure times.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shipping area, keeping tools, materials, and paperwork in order.
  • Follow all safety rules for operating cutting tools, forklifts, and material handling equipment.
  • Participate in Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement activities to improve accuracy and workflow.
