About the role

Zillow Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Technical Program Manager to drive and lead large-scale initiatives that span across organizations. You’ll help build complex online environments visited by hundreds of millions of unique monthly users. You will work closely with leadership, teams, and stakeholders to define strategies, facilitate planning, and oversee the execution of key projects. The Principal Technical Program Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the end-to-end delivery of products, from design through development to release. We need a hands-on “do-er”, which means you will be comfortable driving change, developing strategic technical initiatives, while being able to dive deep through the use of data when vital.

Responsibilities:

  • Define strategic initiatives, plan efficiently, and execute projects that cut across different departments within the organization.
  • Collaborate with leadership and teams to ensure successful delivery of products by translating product requirements into technical specifications.
  • Identify risks and opportunities in technical strategies, architectures, and engineering organization structures.
  • Create and deliver functional specifications or core building blocks for complex projects to Principal Engineers and dev managers.
  • Develop strategic visions for technical-led initiatives and drive innovation across the organization.
  • Recommend system architecture and design approaches within the program domain by understanding workflows, APIs, runtime characteristics, and maintenance requirements.
  • Beyond being successful, you’ll thrive if you relish crafting clarity from ambiguity (at a company-level) and you take pride in driving complex cross-team programs while aligning to company and engineering strategy.
  • Drive process improvements, foster cross-team collaboration, and lead organization-wide initiatives for enhanced efficiency and consensus.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering on scoping, sizing, and prioritization of business objectives.
  • You’ll also own lightweight agile ceremonies for the core engineering teams that this role would partner with.
  • Play a crucial role in delivering multiple team business goals and improving program-related metrics.
