C.H. Robinson is seeking a Fleet Planner – Power Plus to join our team. You will be accountable for day-to-day planning and aligning consistent capacity to customer commitments. This includes, but is not limited to, driver and trailer optimization to maximize revenue, driver satisfaction, and customer service. In this role you will help to create demand, identify new wallet share opportunities, and sell creative solutions working with both network capacity and commercial teams. As the primary point of contact for Power Plus programs, you are additionally responsible for customer advocacy, driving continuous improvement, and delivering on our customer commitments both internally and externally. The Planner collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure an optimal customer/carrier experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of this position consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

Program Advocacy

  • Serves as the day-to-day customer resource, delivering a positive customer experience through proactive communication, timely responses and applying the appropriate sense of urgency as situations dictate. Build credible and personalized relationships at multiple levels across functional departments within the customer supply chain.

    • Manage conflict and navigate difficult conversations with the customer, using tact and diplomacy

    • Apply critical thinking skills to effectively resolve problems and identify the best course of action 

  • Develops strong relationships within the CHR network while promoting the benefits of the Power+ program

    • Drive continuous improvement, and deliver on our customer commitments

    • Stay informed of changes within the customers’ business, industry, and sector; apply knowledge to identify new opportunities

  • Consistently pursues personal development opportunities to expand understanding of CHR’s modes, services, and technology

  • Accountable to adopt and apply new tools and processes that improve overall workflow

Planning & Execution

  • Responsible for day-to-day optimization of fleets and coordinating and planning aligned customer freight for Power+ carriers.

  • Contribute to region goals by pre-planning carriers, leveraging analytical reporting and commercial relationships to ensure KPI’s, revenue, and goals are met

  • Ensure capacity meets specific load requirements by aligning multi-leg movements on Power+ Fleet

  • Matches network freight to available capacity using truck postings, lane history search, etc.

  • Responsible for entering and managing program plans vs actual results

  • Secure and manage dedicated freight consisting of closed loop routes, corridors, one-way shipments and drop trailers

  • Ensures quality expectations are met on all executed shipments.

    • Accept/Reject customer and carrier tenders

    • Schedule Appointments according to capacity needs

    • Ensure accuracy of load data

    • Proactive review of financial results, volume, and service performance.

    • Responds timely to all customer and carrier requests

    • Responsible for returning and injecting trailers when needed

    • Red Tag/Put trailers on hold that need service, GPS replacement, or need to be returned

    • Trailer Pool management for aligned trailer yards

    • Identify and communicate trailer issues to Power+ maintenance

Carrier Management

  • Assist with regular business review internally and externally

  • Onboard carriers into the Power+ program, define expectations and timelines, and set plans for execution

  • Focus on developing dedicated capacity to ensure we have supply ready to service growing volume across our dedicated network

  • Develops an understanding of carrier’s business, goals, preferences, capabilities, equipment, and expertise to maximize the relationship, capacity utilization and carrier satisfaction

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Minimum 2 years of previous transportation, planning, or account management experience

  • Ability to travel up to 10% (domestically and internationally)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to make data-driven decisions

  • Strong strategic orientation, relationship building, negotiation skills (ability to persuade, motivate and influence others), and business acumen

  • Ability to thrive under deadlines and work in a team environment, while also delivering independent results

  • Strong prioritization skills, multi-tasking skills, and works with a sense of urgency

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must work effectively with all levels of management and employees

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of programs

  • Values a diverse and inclusive work environment

  • Positive attitude and ability to excel in a team environment

  • Self-motivated with ability to work without close supervision

  • Demonstrates communication, prioritization, and time management skills

Compensation Range

$27.86 - $44.13
