The CMG Patient Strategy aims to create a holistic, cross-functional approach to deliver a best-in-class patient experience that aligns with the portfolio, technology tools, and consumer-driven patient expectations in a rapidly evolving business landscape.
As a Patient Experience (PX) Business Designer, you will evaluate the commercial viability and financial scalability of patient experience concepts designed across our portfolio. What you can expect in this role at Genentech:
Apply strategic frameworks to assess opportunity spaces and potential patient experience concepts, providing a clear business lens to support opportunity prioritization.
Translate patient experience concepts into rigorous commercial and financial models to evaluate cost structures, revenue potential, KPIs, and long-term viability.
Identify and articulate both financial and non-financial value drivers (e.g., adherence, brand differentiation, ecosystem positioning) to guide design trade-off decisions.
Quantify risks and sensitivity scenarios using discovery-driven planning to build phased investment models for future-state patient solutions.
Inform the business architecture underpinning patient programs, including vendor strategy, funding models, and value realization tracking.
Partner cross-functionally with Finance, DDA, RDT, Activation & Capabilities Enablement, Experience Design teams to provide budget inputs and recommendations on scale, pivot, or sunset calls.
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related discipline.
Bring 4-7 years of professional experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or healthcare setting.
Demonstrate strong financial modeling, value case development, and scenario/risk analysis capabilities.
Possess strong presentation and executive communication skills with an ability to translate technical data into strategic insights.
Show proven ability to connect patient outcomes and experience metrics directly to enterprise value and KPI frameworks.
Master of Business Administration (MBA) or an advanced degree in a business or quantitative field.
Experience applying human-centered design principles or working alongside experience design/innovation teams.
Familiarity with healthcare access pathways, reimbursement models, and digital health technology trends.
This role is based in South San Francisco and offers a hybrid schedule working 3 days per week on campus

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of CA is $130,800 - 243,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
