About our Team: The Academic Information Systems (AIS) organization provides customers in the Academic & Government segment with sophisticated Software-as-a-Service solutions to support the academic lifecycle and research management needs of universities, research organizations, funding and government agencies. The Technical Services Lead will join the AIS Technical Services Team, a global group of qualified professionals that help customers implement our solutions (Interfolio, Pure, Digital Commons) by delivering data and workflow integration services that ensure seamless data exchange and interoperability with existing platforms (e.g. HR, Finance, etc.) as well as with external data sources and services.

About the Role: The Technical Services Lead will manage a global team (6 people)that collaborates with the Technical Product Managers (in the AIS Technical Services Team) and the Software Engineering Team (in the Elsevier Technology Organization) to design, develop, deploy and operate data and workflow integrations for the AIS solutions. Besides ensuring business continuity of existing integrations and coordinating the delivery of new ones, you will also contribute to consolidating the current set of tools into a coherent, flexible and efficient integration infrastructure that enables rapid development and deployment while meeting security, monitoring and compliance requirements. As part of a continuous improvement process, you will define Standard Operating Procedures and Best Practices for your team, and you will ensure that the team is up to date with the latest technology advancements in this space.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in a similar role, with current experience  in a people management role.
  • Strong skills in the following programming languages: SQL, Python (Java and Scala are a plus). Must have the ability to develop scripts to move large amounts of Data from one place to another.
  • Significant experience delivering ETL (Extraction, Transform, Loading) flows.
  • Proficiency with REST and GraphQL APIs for integrating SaaS platforms
  • Experience designing and optimizing relational databases. Knowledge of RDBMS such as PostgreSQL and Snowflake (NoSQL databases is a plus).
  • Experience working with data technologies that power analytics – Spark, Databricks (Data Science and AI expertise are a plus).
  • Familiarity with integration platforms: Matillion, Airflow, Talend, MuleSoft and similar.
  • Experience with cloud solutions: AWS (Azure is a plus).
  • Practical knowledge of Project Management and Agile methodologies.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead a distributed team of Technical Services Specialists that are responsible for configuring, deploying, running, and monitoring integrations to ensure they meet the Service Level Agreement (SLA).
  • Collaborate with the Technical Product Management and Software Engineering Leads to define and implement a best-in-class service delivery model, to support the growth ambitions of the AIS portfolio on the global market.
  • Define a roadmap to consolidate and improve the technical infrastructure and tooling for integrations, data migrations and complex technical support activities, to ensure scalability and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure that all the integration flows and migration processes are fully documented, to facilitate knowledge sharing, onboarding and business continuity.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in the team; identify key strengths and development areas of the team members, support their professional growth while promoting a culture of inclusion and mutual respect.

The salary range provided in this posting is the base salary range for Washington DC:$118,200.00 - $197,100.00
