Key Responsibilities
Define novel optical/metrology/inspection systems, concepts and configurations.
Application of optical metrology and modeling for characterization of new materials.
Collect, analyze data and design statistically valid experiments.
Design and engineer opto-mechanical modules and sub-modules.
Perform research and analysis in physics or related subjects.
Support physics-related application and system issues in the lab and in the field when required.
Define system requirements and specifications for new metrology and inspection systems
Systematically troubleshoot problems and optimize performance limitations in opto-mechanical systems
Respond to physics related issues in the field, function as an advisor for solving physics related application issues.
Plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts and approaches to enable new or improved measurement or inspection systems.
Supply data and analysis to support product risk management decision making process.
Participate in the vendor selection process.
Participate in technical customer engagements and contributes in specific field of expertise
Guide less experienced physicists/scientists.
Evaluate new technologies, pursue innovative solutions.
Evaluate technology from suppliers competitors.
Plan and conduct test of new technologies under evaluation in the team.
Execute feasibility studies of new technologies and provide results / analysis supporting the decision making process.
Execute feasibility studies of complete systems / sub-systems, leveraging new technologies and design concepts.
Prepare demonstrations of new capabilities and conduct performance analysis of results.
Functional Knowledge
• Demonstrate conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines
• Strong fundamental knowledge of optics, optical metrology and optical systems
• Proficient in design and execution of bench-top optics experiments
• Proficiency in algorithms development and coding in languages like C++/Python/Matlab strongly preferred
• Proficiency in control systems and automation strongly preferred
• Basic proficiency in material science and optical modeling

Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
