JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Position Summary
The Center for Spiritual and Ethical Development (CSED) seeks a dependable, service-oriented individual to serve as the Weekend Building Attendant for the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center and the Eisenhower Chapel. Working Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons, this position serves as the primary CSED representative in the building, ensuring a welcoming, safe, and well-maintained environment for students, faculty, staff, families, alumni, religious affiliates, and community guests.
The Weekend Building Attendant plays an important role in supporting the religious, spiritual, and ethical life of the Penn State community by providing exceptional hospitality, assisting building users, supporting scheduled events, monitoring facilities, and responding appropriately to building needs.
Essential Responsibilities
Welcome and assist students, faculty, staff, families, alumni, religious affiliates, and visitors while providing exceptional customer service and hospitality.
Serve as the primary point of contact during weekend operating hours by responding professionally to in-person, telephone, and email inquiries.
Open and prepare the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center and Eisenhower Chapel for daily operations, ensuring meeting rooms, common areas, and public spaces are clean, organized, and ready for scheduled activities.
Monitor building activity throughout each shift to promote a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for all building users.
Provide support for religious services, meetings, educational programs, weddings, memorial services, and other scheduled events as needed.
Assist building users with room access, furniture arrangements, and general facility questions.
Conduct regular walkthroughs of the facility to identify maintenance, custodial, safety, or security concerns and communicate issues promptly to the appropriate staff.
Document facility concerns, unusual incidents, and weekend activity in accordance with CSED procedures.
Maintain accurate attendance and facility usage records for weekend meetings, programs, and approved building users.
Assist with securing the facility at the conclusion of each shift by completing established opening and closing procedures.
Promote an atmosphere of respect, hospitality, inclusion, and professionalism consistent with the mission of the Center for Spiritual and Ethical Development.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Center's mission and daily operations.
Position Details
10-month, part-time wage position following the academic year (August through May).
Regular schedule of Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Compensation ranges from $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, commensurate with relevant experience, demonstrated skills, and qualifications.
Training will be provided in customer service, building operations, safety procedures, event support, and basic audiovisual technology.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Dependable, professional, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to exercise sound judgment while responding appropriately to building needs and customer concerns.
Ability to lift and move light furniture and event equipment and perform routine building walkthroughs.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent the University in a professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in customer service, hospitality, facilities, event management, higher education, houses of worship, conference centers, or community organizations.
Experience opening and closing facilities or overseeing public spaces.
Demonstrated appreciation for the diverse religious, spiritual, and ethical traditions represented within the Penn State community.
