The role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Engineering for our Marketplace division. This role is critical to our mission of creating a seamless and scalable platform that connects chefs with consumers. As the Senior Director of Engineering, you will lead a talented engineering team, driving innovation and ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our marketplace systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and operations, to deliver world-class experiences for our chefs and customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy:
    • Lead and mentor a -mainly remote- high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Develop and execute the technical vision and roadmap for the Marketplace division, aligned with CookUnity’s overall business objectives.
    • Partner with senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives and ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Technical Excellence:
    • Oversee the architecture, design, and development of scalable, reliable, and secure marketplace systems.
    • Implement best practices in software engineering, including code quality, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, ensuring the team is equipped to leverage new tools and approaches.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with product management to define technical requirements, prioritize projects, and deliver high-quality features on time.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data science, operations, and customer support, to enhance the marketplace experience.
    • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding across the organization.
  • Operational Management:
    • Drive the adoption of agile methodologies and ensure the team operates with high efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Manage resources, and timelines to deliver projects.
    • Proactively identify and mitigate risks, ensuring the stability and security of the marketplace platform.
  • Talent Development:
    • Attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent, fostering a culture of learning and growth.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in B2C with marketplace platforms, e-commerce, or related industries.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in cloud computing, microservices architecture, and modern web technologies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle.

Compensation

All final pay rates will be determined by candidates experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
Pay Range for this position
$280,000$300,000 USD
