LFE European Asset Management (formerly “Oaktree Capital Management (Lux.)”) is a joint venture between Brookfield Asset Management and Oaktree Capital Management and is a regulated entity supervised by the Luxembourg Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) to provide services as alternative fund manager across Europe. Our role is to provide independent governance and oversight to Oaktree and Brookfield’s Alternative Investment Funds (“AIF”), with rigorous risk controls, working in internal partnership with the group entities to support growth in Europe while adhering to the highest standards of integrity.

Scope and Responsibilities

The manager will be working closely with both the Luxembourg-based team and the wider Oaktree corporate tax and payroll team in managing operational tax matters for the Luxembourg office and its European branches/subsidiaries. This includes managing tax compliance and ad-hoc advisory work for corporate, indirect and payroll tax, transfer pricing, tax risk management including management of tax correspondence with various European tax authorities, and administration of the monthly payrolls.

The manager will work closely and be supported by Oaktree’s external service providers, as well as other Oaktree teams in Tax, Accounting, Legal and Human Resources.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Preparing tax calculations for quarterly provisions;

  • Working with the Oaktree corporate tax team on cross border moves related to the Luxembourg group of entities;

  • Analyzing and monitoring new tax legislative changes and ensuring compliance with local and national laws;

  • Providing payroll providers with monthly changes, auditing payroll reports, and preparing monthly payment instruction memos;

  • Collecting, inputting, and importing pay data into Celergo and Workday, and liaising with employees and Human Resources to obtain missing details;

  • Managing new payroll set ups and assisting with integration implementation and testing, as needed;

  • Preparing, auditing, and collecting necessary documentation for year-end tax filings for assigned payrolls;

  • Assisting with time-off request inquiries, approvals, and troubleshooting;

  • Responding to payroll audit requests, preparing sample documentation for walkthroughs, and ensuring SOX compliance for the payroll process;

  • Generating reports and analysis related to wage and tax reporting, audit reconciliations, etc.;

  • Responding to employment verification requests; and

  • Writing and updating standard operating procedures.

Experience required

  • 6+ years of relevant tax experience with a public accounting firm and/or within the financial services industry or asset management industry;

  • Minimum two to three years of payroll experience within a professional firm;

  • Qualified accountant with a strong knowledge of general and tax accounting a plus;

  • Experience with Celergo and Workday a plus; and

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. A Master’s degree is a plus.
