Job Summary

The Laboratory Assistant – Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting, receiving, and distributing specimens within the laboratory, as well as the operation of anticipated laboratory equipment.

Pay Range

Minimum $26.00 Midpoint $26.00 Maximum $27.00

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

* Required: Minimum two (2) years of phlebotomy experience.

* Preferred: Two (2) or more years of infant and children blood collection experience. Previous experience with Good Lab Practice.

Education

* Required: High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent. Graduation from Phlebotomist Tech training program.

* Preferred: Completion of some college level courses.

Specialized Skills

* Required: Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills. Be a team player; ability to operate lab equipment and proficient in human venipuncture techniques. Excellent analytical and organization skills; excellent critical thinking judgment, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail, vigilance, poise, and composure in stressful situations. Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.

Licensure

* Required: Certified Phlebotomist Tech 1

Work Environments - Functional Demand:

Sedentary - Very light energy level Lift 10 lbs. box overhead. Lift and carry 15 lbs. Push/pull 20 lbs. cart.
