The Sales Support Specialist plays a key role in expanding the customer base and strengthening early-stage commercial development. With prior experience in prospecting and lead generation, the role requires a structured approach to identifying high‑quality opportunities, engaging potential customers through multiple channels, and supporting the field sales team with well‑qualified leads and market insights. The specialist works with a higher degree of autonomy, helps optimize prospecting processes, and contributes to the improvement of sales efficiency. The position focuses on outbound activities, pipeline development, market analysis and proactive collaboration with cross‑functional teams. The primary market of focus is UK & Ireland.
Prospecting & Lead Generation
• Execute structured prospecting activities, including outbound calling, email outreach and LinkedIn engagement.
• Identify high potential prospects using advanced research techniques and industry tools.
• Drive lead qualification through deeper needs assessment, technical understanding and decision maker mapping.
• Manage the early stages of the sales funnel with autonomy, ensuring a steady flow of qualified opportunities.
• Improve prospecting effectiveness by refining messaging, outreach sequences and targeting strategies.
• Maintain detailed records of activities, outcomes and customer insights in the CRM.
• Coordinate directly with field sales to ensure smooth transition and prioritization of opportunities.
Market & Data Analysis
• Analyze target markets and sub segments to identify growth pockets and emerging opportunities.
• Conduct structured research on companies, applications, technologies and competitive landscapes.
• Build and maintain advanced prospect databases, including segmentation, scoring and prioritization.
• Evaluate outreach data and conversion metrics to optimize lead generation tactics.
• Provide the sales organization with synthesized insights, opportunity lists and market intelligence.
• Monitor market signals, industrial news and investment trends relevant to the region.
• Ensure all insights and data are captured, structured and leveraged in the CRM.
Customer Interaction & Appointment Setting
• Lead first contact conversations with potential customers, handling more complex qualification discussions.
• Present Xylem’s offering with greater depth, addressing technical and commercial questions at a preliminary level.
• Secure high quality appointments for the field sales team, ensuring alignment with sales strategy and priorities.
• Join customer visits when needed to support evaluation, handover and opportunity shaping.
• Maintain consistent follow-up communication with prospects to move them toward engagement.
Sales Process Support
• Ensure high CRM hygiene, ensuring opportunity data is accurate, complete and actionable.
• Support opportunity progression by aligning with Marketing, Sales and Engineering on lead status and needs.
• Contribute to the refinement of sales playbooks, scripts and prospecting workflows.
• Conduct follow ups on proposals, quotes or customer inquiries when delegated by field sales.
• Assist in preparing reports on lead generation performance, funnel status and market trends.
Cross-functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Marketing to enhance targeting, align campaigns and provide feedback from the market.
• Collaborate with Application Engineering to understand technical aspects relevant to early qualification.
• Exchange information with Pricing and Customer Support to facilitate accurate early-stage discussions.
• Participate in cross team initiatives aimed at improving customer acquisition effectiveness.
• Support continuous improvement activities through insight sharing and process enhancement suggestions.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in prospecting, inside sales, lead generation or a similar sales role.
• Demonstrated success in generating and qualifying opportunities in a B2B environment.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, especially in outbound interactions.
• Proficiency with CRM systems and ability to manage structured pipelines.
• Solid skills in web research, LinkedIn, and digital outreach tools.
• Strong analytical capabilities and ability to interpret market data.
• Organized, autonomous, and comfortable managing multiple parallel activities.
• Results-driven, with experience working toward KPIs and measurable targets.
Additional Information – Physical Demands / Travel Requirements
The role is primarily office-based. Occasional travel with field sales representatives may be required for advanced qualification or handover support.
