Job Summary
The Product Engineer supports the design, development, and continuous improvement of company products from concept through production. This role collaborates with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and external suppliers to ensure products meet performance, manufacturability, cost, and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Product Engineering
• Assist with new product design, including advanced 3D CAD modeling in SolidWorks, material selection, structural analysis, and testing activities to validate design intent.
• Support engineering changes, cost reduction efforts, and lifecycle improvements.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure manufacturability, process capability, and production readiness.
• Participate in prototype builds and validation activities; document results and drive design adjustments as needed.
• Lead or support root cause analysis and corrective actions for product related issues.
Supplier Quality Responsibilities
• Participate in supplier selection and technical capability assessments.
• Lead or support PPAP/FAI submissions, sample evaluations, and incoming part qualification.
• Review supplier quality documents such as control plans, process flows, inspection criteria, and material certifications.
• Investigate supplier related issues, drive corrective actions using 8D/5Why methodologies, and verify long term effectiveness.
• Monitor ongoing supplier performance metrics, including quality, delivery, and process stability.
• Support continuous improvement activities with suppliers to reduce variation and improve product reliability.
Cross Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Procurement, Operations, SQE, and Program Management during product launches and engineering changes.
• Provide suppliers with clear technical direction, drawing updates, and specification requirements.
• Communicate risks, status updates, and technical findings to internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in product design, manufacturing processes, or quality engineering.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and 3D CAD modeling; familiarity with GD&T and engineering drawings.
• Experience with PPAP/FAI processes, material selection, testing, and root cause analysis tools.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Fluent English speaking and writing skills required, including the ability to prepare technical documentation and communicate effectively with global teams.
• Strong teamwork and cross functional communication abilities.
