The Opportunity:

As a Hostess The Host/Hostess is primarily responsible for clerical and receptionist duties, assisting with the development and coordination of activities and leading activities that meet the needs of the retirement community’s residents, serving meals, setting tables, and maintaining the cleanliness of the dining room.

What you will do:

· Build relationships to learn about the unique interests and needs of each resident

· Assists with the completion of resident profiles when a new resident moves into the home

· Assists in the development and implementation of activities that meet the six dimensions of wellness. (Social, physical, intellectual, emotional, vocational and spiritual needs of all residents.)

· Professionally manage and direct both internal and external inbound calls through the main call line, ensuring a positive and efficient communication experience.

· Responds to resident or family member concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken within decision-making authority and/or brings to the attention of the Programs Manager in a timely and effective manner

· Creates a safe, pleasant, creative and non-threatening engaging environment

· Greet residents and other patrons, present menu options and other food and beverage choices, answer questions regarding options and takes orders

· Performs meal service as required relating to beverage and meal service, creating a pleasurable dining experience, ensuring resident satisfaction with meal service

What you will need:

Education & Experience

· High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

· Minimum Grade 10 is required.

· Formal training or equivalent on the job experience is preferred.

· Post-secondary degree or diploma in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation or other related field, or current enrollment in one of these programs with the intent to successfully complete the program within the next three years of being hired.

· Must enjoy working with the elderly.

· Must be capable of routine work with minimal supervision.

· Possess strong leadership ability and the willingness to work in collaboration with others.

· Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills interacting with residents, families, volunteers, and staff.

· Able to plan, organize and delivery diverse engaging experiences

· Able to be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments and environment.

· Customer service oriented

· Have a positive attitude, be empathetic and motivated.

· Demonstrates a caring, empathetic attitude in a professional and mature manner.

· Ability to manage stressful situations in the workplace.

· Computer literate
