Pay Range: $90K - $110K/annually
Job Summary: The Director of Catering & Conference Services is responsible for driving catering and event revenue while ensuring the seamless execution of all group, convention, and catered functions. This leadership role oversees both the Catering and Conference Services teams and is accountable for achieving assigned revenue goals, food and beverage minimums, and guest satisfaction targets.
This position ensures that all contracted obligations are fulfilled, events are executed at the highest service standards, and clients experience exceptional service from booking through post-event follow-up. The Director collaborates closely with Sales, Operations, and Food & Beverage to maximize profitability, efficiency, and repeat business.
Essential Functions and Duties
Revenue Generation & Sales Leadership
Achieve assigned catering revenue goals, food & beverage minimums, and event profitability targets.
Develop and implement innovative sales and marketing strategies to increase catering and event revenue.
Conduct selective solicitation calls, property tours, and client entertainment to generate new business.
Follow up on leads through phone calls, correspondence, and in-person meetings.
Assist in reducing tentative space holds and improving space utilization in partnership with Sales.
Monitor market trends and evaluate performance within assigned segments.
Participate in sales blitzes, special promotions, and direct sales initiatives as needed.
Event Planning & Execution
Oversee planning, detailing, and execution of all catered functions, meetings, and conventions.
Ensure all Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) are accurate, distributed timely, and updated as changes occur.
Attend and oversee key events to ensure proper execution and client satisfaction.
Collaborate with Food & Beverage, Culinary, Audio-Visual, and Operations teams to ensure all event requirements are met.
Manage and communicate food & beverage forecasts and event projections.
Ensure all events meet hotel service standards and contractual obligations.
Client Relationship & Satisfaction Management
Achieve assigned meeting planner satisfaction scores and guest experience targets.
Maintain ongoing communication with clients, group leaders, and meeting planners from turnover through event completion.
Build strong client relationships to foster repeat business and long-term partnerships.
Maintain visibility in local civic groups, industry organizations, and community events to generate business opportunities.
Conduct post-event follow-up and gather feedback to improve service delivery.
Leadership & Team Management
Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management to Catering and Conference Services Managers.
Establish clear revenue and satisfaction goals for the team.
Conduct regular one-on-ones, training, and performance evaluations.
Ensure strong interdepartmental communication between Sales, Operations, and Food & Beverage.
Foster a collaborative, service-oriented team culture focused on revenue growth and operational excellence.
Administrative & Reporting Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain required reports including:
Sales Call Reports
Catering pace and revenue reports
Banquet food and beverage forecasts
Event profitability analysis
Attend and participate in daily, weekly, and monthly management meetings.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of hotel policies, pricing structures, and operational capabilities.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in catering sales, event management, hotel management, or convention center operations.
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Event Management, or a related field preferred.
Strong knowledge of event planning, food and beverage management, and convention services.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, staff, and vendors.
Ability to manage multiple events and meet revenue and service goals.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and event management software.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
Work Environment:
Primarily indoor work with frequent walking, standing, and lifting of objects up to 20 lbs.
Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of scheduled events.
Regular interaction with clients, hotel staff, and vendors in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
