Position Purpose:
The Outside Sales Representative (OSR) Trainee Manager is responsible for leading a cohort of OSR trainees through a best-in-class onboarding, training, and development experience. This role partners closely with merchants, stores, and multiple Pro business units to deliver a comprehensive training program. Through a blended approach that includes product knowledge, in-store exposure, and hands-on, in-role experience, the OSR Trainee Manager prepares top sales talent for successful market placement. This position plays a key role in onboarding current and future cohorts, ultimately driving outside sales performance and growth through managed accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
20% Execution – Drive strong Pro performance outcomes through the trainee pipeline (growth, profitability, and Pro customer satisfaction); Ensure consistent execution of the trainee program; Identify and implement best practices across the trainee experience; Lead weekly trainee meetings, and facilitate monthly and quarterly readiness/program reviews
40% Leadership – Provide direction and guidance to OSR trainees on all aspects of professional sales; Motivate, coach and develop trainees through structured program; Reinforce strong selling, relationship building, and systems habits, and coach to standards
20% Planning – Understand the market competitive environment and teach strategies to win across Pro customer segments and Home Depot departments; Implement and continuously improve the training plan to prepare OSR trainees for success as future sales members in their markets
20% Providing Excellent Customer Service – Build strong relationships and a deep understanding of capabilities and Pro customer needs, and coach trainees to consistently fulfill those needs through strong service and follow-through

This position typically reports to Sr. Manager Pro Business

Travel Requirements:
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 10% of the time
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking, or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
Working Conditions:
Located in a blend of comfortable indoor areas and time in the field. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
3+ years of previous leadership and/or training leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams
Ability to negotiate, handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances with both internal and external customers
4+ years account management/sales management experience
4+ years home improvement or home building industry experience
4+ years leading and developing a large team
