Broadway Veterinary Care is looking for an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician who enjoys working with companion animals to join our team! Full time and part time positions available.

About our clinic: Broadway Veterinary Care is a full-service small animal hospital, offering the gold standard in medical and surgical care. We believe healthy pets make happy people, and we strive to provide high-quality veterinary care for cats and dogs in the area. Our diagnostic equipment includes an in-house laboratory, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, and ultrasound. Most importantly, we have phenomenal, experienced support staff who are crucial to the success of patient and client care. Our doctors perform a variety of routine and advanced soft tissue surgeries and dentistry. All our patients undergoing anesthesia have pre-op lab work and receive an IV catheter, IV fluids, and are carefully monitored and recovered by our skilled surgical technicians.

Location: Hewlett, NY is along the South Shore on the West side of Long Island. The perfect mix of suburban and city life make Hewlett a great place for someone who enjoys the feel of a small town with the convenience of being close to The City. The beautiful shores of Long Island offer all kinds of great waterfront activities such as boating, fishing, and soaking up the sun on the beach.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting veterinarians with office appointments. 
  • Taking patient history, and providing discharge and medication instructions. 
  • Proper animal restraint.
  • Performing treatments.
  • Administering medications by IV, IM, or SQ injections.
  • Diagnostic testing, and preparing samples for laboratory testing. 
  • Filling prescriptions. 
  • Venipuncture/ IV catheter placement.
  • Taking radiographs.
  • Assisting veterinarians with surgical and dental procedures. 
  • Monitoring anesthesia.
  • Sterilizing and wrapping surgical packs.
  • Surgical preparation. 
  • Assisting in post op recovery. 
  • Entering patient notes, and charges in PMS. 

 

Skills & Requirements:

● Must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), with a valid license in NY

● Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent from an accredited program.

● Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology.

● Proficiency in compassionately handling and restraining animals, including those exhibiting stress or fear.

● Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

● Proficiency in using veterinary software for patient records and medical documentation.

● Physical capability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes.
