As Patient Care Therapy Specialist in the Rehabilitation Unit, you will confer with patients about their medical histories, stress and anxiety to determine which therapies will be most helpful for their treatment. Using your knowledge of manual massage techniques, you will help positively improve patient well-being and care. As a part of this team, you will also have opportunities to progress your education and skills through Cleveland Clinic’s numerous resources. 

A caregiver in this position works from 8:00AM – 4:00PM. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide relaxation massage services to patients, answer calls and schedule patients as designated. 
  • Clean and sanitize rooms and equipment according to sanitary guidelines and regulations before and after every patient. 
  • Break down or set up rooms as required.  
  • Perform patient needs assessments and evaluate patient satisfaction. 
  • Counsel and train patients in the use of prosthesis. 
  • Cross-cover patient services. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited program resulting in a Diploma or Degree in Massage Therapy or similar field leading to licensure 
  • Successful completion of State Medical Board Massage Therapist License, successful Certification/completion of State Medical Board Esthetician License of Cosmetology with a Massage Certificate or similar licensure 
  • Two years of experience in patient-focused environment 
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of the fundamentals of massage therapy 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Reiki Certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Normal or corrected hearing and vision to normal range
  • Some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures
