Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Product Innovation (Specialized Distribution), the Product Owner (Specialized Distribution) will be responsible for working with business stakeholders primarily within McKesson Specialized Distribution and Hospital Distribution for prioritizing and implementing the digital roadmap and day-to-day product activities.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Become fully entrenched in the Products under the McKesson Specialized Distribution and Hospital Distribution portfolio for BioPharma Manufacturers and customers.
- Main area of focus will include Biopharma Manufacturer priorities, business knowledge, and technical processes internally and how they interface with external customers.
- Communicate the product vision and needs of the business to the McKesson Technology Product Management & Development teams.
- Lead requirements gathering and consultations with internal stakeholders and external customers.
- Involved in business modelling and identifying potential impact to the product strategy/roadmap, working with stakeholders to drive the business goals and customer success.
- Document user stories and new features for product implementation aligning with roadmap.
- Participate in creating prototypes, mock-ups, and work with Product UX/Design.
- Maintain and refine the product backlog with the McKesson Technology Product Manager, work with the product team in their practices and participate in the estimation of user stories.
- Attend scrum meetings, participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Attend product iteration demos representing MSD and Hospital Distributions.
- Leverage existing tools and identify new tools to support the engagement with McKesson Technology development teams, and partners.
- Participate in customer, internal, and competitive research on product innovation.
- Participate in product useability research with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Become a product domain expert and advocate for the customer and internal stakeholders to establish a superior customer experience.
- Work with cross-functional teams including design, privacy, security, account management/sales, procurement, communications, engineering, analytics, product development and other business stakeholders in the development and continued progression of the product roadmap and journey.
- Write acceptance criteria and participate in the acceptance of the product enhancements.
- Participate in defining goals and KPIs for product maintenance and success.
- Use qualitative and quantitative analysis when making key product decisions.
- Demonstrate the latest iterations to internal stakeholders and customers to gather feedback.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in product management, business analysis, and/or as a Product Owner. Preferably within the biopharma or healthcare industry.
- Experience with SAP S4, Salesforce, and/or EDI capabilities.
Key Competencies:
- Knowledge of Canadian biopharma landscape, Patient Support Programs, Specialty pharmacies, infusion clinics, technology solutions for physicians, and general healthcare industry is a definite asset.
- Working knowledge of product development processes.
- Experience in agile environments, but also flexible in waterfall scenarios.
- Innovative mindset with emphasis on data and metrics.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary group.
- Comfortable to navigate ambiguity and unknowns.
- Build quick knowledge on any home-grown technology platforms used in Specialized Distribution.
- Customer experience centric mindset focusing on improving the customer journey through existing and new product innovation.
- Strong interpersonal relationships.
- Professionalism, confidentiality and good judgment to work on projects at all levels of the organization.
- Understanding of design quality standards.
- Strong attention to details.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Technical and/or development experience; in-depth knowledge of Scrum and Agile Software Development Methodology.
- Previous experience in healthcare and distribution is an asset, but not mandatory.
- Experience with product useability practices; knowledge of user-centered design / product practices.
- Strong prioritization and time management skills.
- Strong understanding of the McKesson business ecosystem is an asset.
- Experience with Smartsheet and Jira preferred.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong presentation skills to crafting messages appropriate to target audiences whether technical and/or non-technical.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing requirements and timelines.
- Excellent attention to details with sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Creative and innovative thinker with a proven ability to proactively research, prioritize and recommend solutions.
- High sense of urgency with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Bilingual (English and French) is an asset, but not required.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
