Business & Team:

The Payments domain in CBA brings together the process, people and technology assets supporting real-time, bulk electronic, cheques, high value and international payments processing for the Bank. The team have the monumental task of ensuring that 40% of the Australian economy are able to transact over $90 billion a day using the Bank’s services in a reliable manner. With the payments technology systems being at the heart of the Bank, almost every customer-facing channel relies on payments services in one way or another. The Batch Crew within the Payments Domain are responsible for leading and building the world-class Batch delivery capability across critical payments platforms and highly visible change initiatives.

Impact & Contribution:

As a Product Owner within the Payments Batch Crew, you will work closely with the business to deliver exceptional outcomes for our business stakeholders and customers. You will be responsible for developing and delivering the Batch delivery for the Payments Domain. This will incorporate the delivery of changes to existing system, modernisation capabilities and development of the strategic roadmap for future state Batch delivery. You will be leading a team of Payments Batch delivery experts to achieve this, while creating a psychologically safe, inclusive, accountable and high-performance culture, and working collaboratively within and across Crews.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Define the squad product vision, goals and roadmap aligned with the Payments Batch Crew objectives and purpose.
  • Develop and design Batch engineering solutions for products and platforms to address identified needs or opportunities and build and prioritise the Squad backlog in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop a squad of team members including Engineers, quality engineers and BAs, creating a psychologically safe, inclusive, accountable and high-performance culture.
  • Identify risk, dependencies and issues for the squad in line with excellent management of operational risk and compliance outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of external market trends - regulatory, economics and innovation.
  • Build and foster strong relationships across the product value chain, including Business Banking Technology, Retail Technology, Compliance, and Finance, leading virtual teams to ensure efficient delivery of strategic initiatives and resolution of issues.

Essential Skills:

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner with a Payments Batch background.
Experience with the following will help you succeed in the role:

  • 12+ years of industry experience
  • Adept at defining and driving technology roadmaps and execute relevant strategies within the domain or reference architecture and help foster an excellent engineering culture that is open, safe, productive and fun for everyone!
  • Advanced commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Advanced communication and Influencing skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability with advanced delivery skills.
  • Exposure to Java, IBM WebSphere, and Mainframe will be advantage

Education Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
