Primary Position Objective:

We are seeking a driven and analytically minded Senior Data Scientist with an excellent data science foundation, expertise in machine learning and artificial intelligence, and a history of developing and demonstrating technical expertise applied to ML projects. The ideal candidate will be a bridge between the intricate world of data analytics and the real-world challenges of the insurance sector. You will engage in advanced modeling and analytical techniques to provide critical insights and drive data-driven strategic decisions. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to guide junior colleagues and work with cross-functional teams across the organization to drive key company initiatives.

Essential Functions:

1. Lead efforts to identify and define complex data analysis to uncover patterns and answer business questions.

2. Independently formulate and assist in the design of solutions to stakeholder problems

3. Be responsible for ownership and delivery of end-to-end ML/AI solutions to address business problems and guide decision making

4. Architect scalable and reliable data solutions that align with company objectives and stakeholder requirements

5. Consult with technical leaders to establish and communicate timelines; providing authoritative estimates on associated dependencies and required level of effort

6. Lead discussion on recommended approaches and any alternatives for approaching modeling and analytical problems

7. Serve as a subject matter expert, owner, and primary point of contact for assigned projects; able to explain associated data, model, and business context in detail to both technical and non-technical audiences.

8. Provide estimates of value associated with assigned projects, and champion the impact of assigned projects throughout the organization

9. Guide and mentor junior team members as necessary. Anticipate the tasks, questions, and hurdles for self and others and coach team members on approaches and solutions.

Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field and 3 years of work in a field related to Data Science or a Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field and 4 years of work in a field related to Data Science
  • 3+ years’ experience with machine learning techniques, predictive modeling
  • 3+ years’ experience with SQL and Python, R, or a similar scripting language
  • 3+ years’ experience with common machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn
  • 3+ years’ experience with cloud-based services and environments such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and Kubernetes
  • 2+ years’ demonstrated experience with multiple machine learning techniques in a production environment as part of a business solution

Location Requirements:

  • The primary hiring location of is Chevy Chase, MD, additional locations may be available in the job posting.
  • Associates are expected to work a hybrid schedule, 3 days in the office every week.


 

Annual Salary

$90,000.00 - $230,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
