Payroll includes work focused on designing and/or ensuring compliance with some/all of the following payroll processes including:
•Calculating gross and net pay amounts (e.g., salary, overtime, shift payments, sales commissions, bonuses, deferred compensation, benefits, tax withholdings, deductions, payroll liabilities, etc.)
•Payroll-specific records maintenance (changes in wage/salary rates; pension, insurance, mandatory deductions; new hires, terminations, leave of absence, etc.)
•Reconciliation of payroll records (e.g., payments, deductions, general ledger entries for wages)
•Payroll data verification and administration
•Monitor and manage payroll legislation compliance
•Answering questions from employees and supervisors regarding payroll matters
•May maintain records on vacation, sick leave, etc.


 

A recognized master in professional discipline typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Typically responsible for: • Establishing operational plans for job area. • Developing and implementing new products, processes, standards or operational plans that will have impact on the achievement of functional results. • Requires communication with leadership.

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive European Payroll Lead to oversee payroll operations across multiple European countries. This is a critical hire with an immediate start, offering the opportunity to lead a high-impact function within a dynamic global organization.

Key Responsibilities

This role is accountable for enabling the team to deliver a timely and accurate monthly European payroll. Responsibilities include reviewing, improving, and updating processes, supporting payroll-related projects, and ensuring compliance with statutory legislation and internal audit standards. You will also be leading a payroll team and looking to streamline the payroll process.

  • Lead end-to-end payroll processing across multiple European jurisdictions.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax, labour, and social security regulations.
  • Manage relationships with external payroll providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Support audits and ensure accurate reporting and documentation.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Ensure adherence to SLAs (Service Level Agreement) for response and resolution times while adhere to the quality framework standards.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience managing multi-country European payrolls.
  • Strong knowledge of European payroll legislation and compliance.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as TMF, ADP, Workday, SAP, or similar.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comprehensive understanding of European payroll legislation
    Functional knowledge of payroll in at least 4 other supported countries
    Experience managing a team
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and managing multiple deadlines
    Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
    Strong proficiency in payroll systems
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
    Experience leading payroll-related projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIPP or equivalent payroll certification.
  • Experience in a global or matrixed organization.
  • Strong vendor management and stakeholder engagement skills.
