The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Reliability Engineer. Boeing India Engineering oversees the design, development, manufacture, integration and testing of LRU designs for various Avionics systems. This position is located in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The candidate in this position will carry out RAM related activities in Programs, Projects and Parts selections in line with Safety requirements looking for optimization of RAM performance while being mindful of other constraints (such as life cycle, MTBF, safety, standards etc.)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Hardware Design Engineering through the functional safety requirements upon component selection, sub component design architecture and analysis to provide compliances.
  • FHA/SHA Analysis for Hardware Designs
  • Conduct component level Electrical Stress Analysis, MTBF, MTBUR and safety compliance studies at various lifecycle phases of the product.
  • Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis at functional/piece part level and Fault Tree Analysis to identify single point failures critical for the product safety.
  • Develop Reliability Enhancement Test plan to detect and eliminate design weakness, deliver product with mature reliability and determine the product design margins which result in robust design and high in-service reliability.
  • Evaluate and prove ongoing designs meet safety targets with analysis such as Safety evaluations, FMEA, FMEDA, DFA etc.
  • Evaluate and prove ongoing VLSI designs are compliant to safety targets through safety flow analysis tools
  • Architect new designs for target probability of failures. Define need for BITE
  • Support functional safety discussion in project evaluations though MTBF, MTBUR, FMEA, FTA and such analysis, suggest the design alternatives to enhance the reliability and safety of our product.
  • Evaluate new component and sub component selections for reliability upon space and avionics
  • Represent functional safety interests inside the company, establish safety culture
  • Provide project engineering with principles such as “Design for Reliability” and Design for Maintainability”
  • Put in place a RAM Monitoring process in projects during Design and Maintenance

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher is required as a BASIC QUALIFICATION
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, electronics, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry, 8 or more years of experience Reliability Engineering for Avionics hardware.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Windchill, Risk and Reliability suite of tools
  • Experience in electrical stress analysis for analog and digital designs
  • Experience in MTBF calculations, FMEA and FTA analysis over DAL A Hardware systems
  • Experience in defining Reliability Enhancement Test plan
  • Experience in definition of architecture of new designs for reliability and safety requirements
  • Experience in Component Engineering, as a reliability engineer
  • Experience in presenting and seeking approvals for new part introductions for new designs
  • Experience in various workflows such as reliability block diagrams, and so on
  • Experience in statistical tools and quality measurement analysis tools
  • Experience in Avionics protocols is a plus.
  • Knowledge on ARP4761A, ARP5580, ARP4754A, Mil-HDBK-217F, Mil-HDBK-338B etc.

Typical Education / Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 8 to 11 years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+7 years of related work experience).
