Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Provides advanced support for technology operations. Applies extensive, in-depth knowledge, skills, and practices to perform complex assignments.

What will you do?

  • Maintains hardware, software, and configurations; manages migrations, OS builds, tool installation, and removal of end-of-life hardware.

  • Coordinates production environment changes with technology operations in order to maintain a stable production environment.

  • Works closely with development to test various lab benchmarks for the purpose of determining the best technology combinations.

  • Develops relationships with business partners and establishes direct channels with critical, back-end vendor support personnel.

What do you need to succeed?

  • The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in on-premises Kubernetes infrastructure and cluster lifecycle management. Core requirements include hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing production Kubernetes clusters in on-premises data center environments, with strong knowledge of bare-metal provisioning, networking, and storage considerations.

  • Experience with Cluster API (CAPI) for declarative cluster management and automation is highly desirable, enabling infrastructure-as-code approaches to cluster provisioning and upgrades across multiple environments.

  • The role requires proficiency in container orchestration fundamentals including Docker and containers, along with expertise in on-premises networking solutions such as Calico, Cilium, or Flannel for pod networking and network policy enforcement.

  • Candidates should demonstrate experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD, with strong infrastructure-as-code skills using Terraform, Helm, and Kustomize. Knowledge of on-premises storage solutions including Ceph, Portworx, or OpenEBS for persistent volume management is important, along with expertise in monitoring and observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and distributed tracing tools.

  • Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or Go are essential for operational efficiency. Experience with load balancing solutions like MetalLB or HAProxy for bare-metal environments, along with security best practices including RBAC, pod security policies, secrets management with tools like HashiCorp Vault, and certificate management, completes the technical profile.
