Job Description

The Complex Commodity Manager is responsible for implementing value-added strategic sourcing and contracting strategies and tactics that enable UPS to procure goods, services, critical commodities and highly engineered products, within complex supply chains at the best overall cost of ownership and highest quality. He/She works closely with business unit and functional leads to define sourcing requirements that will meet business needs. The Complex Commodity Manager leverages and monitors global category spend and strategic relationships with suppliers to drive the procurement process and deliver results by assigned category. This position typically manages multiple strategic commodities, and manages supervisors within the department.

Responsibilities:

• Communicates corporate procurement strategy and develops global/national strategies.
• Works with suppliers and other teams to establish opportunities that include diverse suppliers.
• Examines complex supply chains to identify opportunities for cost reduction and improved service.
• Coordinates communication to ensure response to internal customer questions and requests.
• Analyzes industry trends, current spend data, and spend history to forecast industry direction, future spend levels, and set performance goals.
• Utilizes and customizes supplier scorecards as needed to monitor critical and strategic supplier performance.
• Receives vendor proposals to distribute to appropriate project team members.
• Develops risk analysis documents to inform management decisions.
• Manages vendor performance to ensure contract agreements are followed.
• Manages the supplier contracting process and communicates to internal stakeholders.
• Utilizes best practices to negotiate contracts with suppliers that address commercial, governance, legal, and risk concerns.
• Provides review and reply support to supplier responses.
• Collaborates across Procurement teams to implement new contract technology enhancements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or International equivalent in Accounting, Engineering, Finance, Logistics, or related discipline - Preferred
• Working knowledge of Excel, Coupa, additional technologies
• Strong negotiation skills
• Experience supervising other employees
• Experience with supplier contracting
