Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

This position is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join the Middle Market Financial Reporting and Controls team. The team is responsible for the GAAP monthly/quarterly financial support and internal controls of various markets within the Middle Market and BI Finance organizations. This individual is the financial liaison for specific markets providing monthly analysis of results and accounting/reporting support during the monthly close. In addition, under general direction, this individual is responsible for the analysis of income reconciliations, premium, loss and reinsurance results. This position does not manage others but must maintain key business partner relationships.
What Will You Do?
- Perform monthly review of income statements and balance sheets for assigned markets, assist in analyzing and reporting on variances and ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of results.
- Support and communicate financial results by providing data and assist in developing analyses for key financial metrics (i.e. premium and commissions, losses and reinsurance).
- Communication of monthly/quarterly results to Business Unit Finance leads.
- Prepare and review monthly management reporting for assigned markets, including executive management books.
- Assist in the monthly/quarterly GAAP CYP (Current Year Projection) reporting process for assigned markets within the Middle Market organization.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for various lines of business.
- Perform financial controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Responsibilities will include extracting and assisting in analyzing data from FACTS General Ledger and TM1 applications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting theory and practice.
- Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to pay attention to detail and effectively covey information
- Ability to leverage analytical skills access and gather data, including a basic understanding of what the data represents.
- Ability to proactively manage time and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to solve challenges and make recommendations for more efficient processes.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Financial Reporting Software (e.g., TM1, Essbase, Hyperion, etc.).
