Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq:  ARWR) is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company that develops medicines that treat intractable diseases by silencing the genes that cause them. Using a broad portfolio of RNA chemistries and efficient modes of delivery, Arrowhead therapies trigger the RNA interference mechanism to induce rapid, deep, and durable knockdown of target genes. RNA interference, or RNAi, is a mechanism present in living cells that inhibits the expression of a specific gene, thereby affecting the production of a specific protein. Arrowhead’s RNAi-based therapeutics leverage this natural pathway of gene silencing.

Arrowhead is focused on developing innovative drugs for diseases with a genetic basis, typically characterized by the overproduction of one or more proteins that are involved with disease. The depth and versatility of our RNAi technologies enables us to potentially address conditions in virtually any therapeutic area and pursue disease targets that are not otherwise addressable by small molecules and biologics. Arrowhead is leading the field in bringing the promise of RNAi to address diseases outside of the liver, and our clinical pipeline includes disease targets in the liver and lung with a promising pipeline of preclinical candidates.

Arrowhead’s corporate headquarters is in Pasadena, CA with research and development teams in Madison, WI & San Diego, CA, and a state of the art manufacturing facility in Verona, WI.  Our employees are nimble, science-driven innovators who are collaborating to bring new therapies to patients in need.

The Position

Arrowhead is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to manage equipment-related activities, streamline communication, and provide project reporting to management.  This position will separate project management ownership from technical deliverables to allow technical personnel to focus on execution.  This position will manage projects to support equipment lifecycle management in a regulated environment, including commissioning and qualification, onboarding, planned changes, and retirement.  This position may support Facility Engineering and Automation, Process Engineering, or Quality Engineering projects and will engage Stakeholders from Manufacturing and Analytical departments on projects.  The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple functional teams in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Equipment Lifecycle Project Coordination

  • Develop project charter, scope, schedule, and budgets.  Facilitate review and approval by stakeholders.
  • Manage changes to project scope and risks.  Investigate changes and escalate to stakeholders for review and approval as appropriate.
  • Coordinate activities for equipment onboarding, commissioning, qualification and readiness activities across Manufacturing, Process Engineering,  Facility Engineering and Automation, Quality Engineering, and Metrology.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of equipment purchases, from concept development, procurement,  design development, and installation.
  • Coordinate and track equipment-related change controls, ensuring timely initiation, cross-functional alignment, and progression through approval and implementation.
  • Support coordination for new equipment introductions and subsequent equipment changes by tracking requests with supporting departments.
  • Review new requests for alignment on scope, timelines, ownership, and readiness requirements across Stakeholder departments and escalate issues for resolution.
  • Maintain visibility into project status, dependencies, change impacts, and handoffs to minimize delays, rework, and compliance risk.

Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Provide project teams effective communication and collaboration platforms to enable teams to manage changes in a fast paced environment.
  • Reduce inefficiencies by streamlining coordination and decision-making, minimizing redundant or unnecessary meetings.
  • Ensure clarity on ownership, expectations, commitment dates within teams.  Proactively identify gaps, risks, or misalignments and escalate appropriately.

Project & Operations Support

  • Coordinate schedules, deliverables, and milestones related to equipment lifecycle management projects, with a focus on equipment readiness.
  • Establish trackers and dashboards for insight into project health.  Routinely provide reports to support transparency and leadership visibility.
  • Support operational readiness initiatives tied to commercial and clinical manufacturing needs, major continuous improvements, and inspection readiness plans.
  • Support resource allocation tracking and projections across engineering teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment onboarding and lifecycle processes.
  • Develop standard engineering project management tools and templates.
