Who will you be working with?

Railroad Friction Products Corporation designs and manufactures Cobra high-friction and low-friction composition brake shoes, specialty shoes, and disc brake linings for freight, locomotive and transit vehicles. 

How will you make a difference?

Dynamometer testing plays a key part in research into factors affecting friction and other key performance characteristics, development of new friction materials, and evaluation of changes in process and raw materials for current products. As a member of the Railroad Friction Products group/division, you will assist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of Dynamometer test equipment, set up equipment, run tests, and prepare Dynamometer test reports.

What do we want to know about you?

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 
  • Ability to write simple correspondence. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Follow all company established safety and employment rules.
  • Assist in the setup, calibration, and operation of dynamometer test equipment.
  • Assist routine maintenance and repairs of dynamometer test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with dynamometer test equipment.
  • Document test results and communicate findings to senior technicians and engineers.
  • Always follow established safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective testing processes.
  • Regular on-site attendance is required.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and extreme heat (non-weather).
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
